Descriptions for new titles:

THE NEW FLESH - The Absurd LP
Hailing from Oakland, California, The New Flesh delivers driving, melodic dark post-punk with the speed and aggression of hardcore. These somber but upbeat songs deal with issues of the personal, political and an intersection of both: alienation within the context of capitalism. Featuring members of Neon Piss, Deskonocidos, and Vaaska, (Deranged Records #252)

HURULA - Vi Ar Manniskorna Vara Foraldrar Varnade Oss For LP
The stunning debut from Robert Hurula Petterson is now available in North America. Known for his previous bands - Masshysteri, The Vicious, and Regulations, HURULA blends elements of punk, post punk, garage, and no-wave and delivers what might very well be one of the best of post punk records of 2014. (Deranged Records #261)

Descriptions for all available titles:

86 MENTALITY - Final Exit CD
This is the CD format of one of the best hardcore 7"s of 2007 as per Maximum RocknRoll and Terminal Boredom. It includes their 'FINAL EXIT' 7" plus two bonus tracks from the same session and 7 live tracks recorded at the Lintfabriek in Belgium. With 'Final Exit', 86 MENTALITY continues with their blend of pulverizing hardcore and stomping street punk but it's also the production of this recording which elevates this material, making it their most powerful release. For fans of tough early hardcore like Negative Approach, S.O.A and early BLITZ. (Deranged Records #117)

AC4 - s/t LP
Singer Dennis Lyxzen and bassist David Sandstrom-formerly of Sweden's Refused, one of the most innovative and influential bands of the '90, have reunited. AC4 is clearly a hardcore band: old-school, stripped-down, and apparently minus the radical sonic tinkering and texturing of Refused. (Deranged Records #161)

AIRFIX KIT - Flex Time 7"
When GIANT HAYSTACKS parted ways a few years back, two of the three members went on to form AIRFIX KIT. The three songs found on this debut 7" are pretty consistent with the aforementioned band with a heavy MINUTEMEN influence byway of UK post punk ala WIRE/GANG OF FOUR. 2nd 7" on Dirtnap coming out any day. (Deranged Records #154)

ALTERED BOYS - Blame 7"
Originating from Newbridge, NJ, Altered Boys plays a supreme brand of hardcore that's heavily-inspired by fast, early 2000s NJHC that has helped rejuvenate a once (temporarily) stagnant scene into something that is once more interesting and vital. This is their 2nd 7", follow-up to their recent 7" on Katorga Works. Available in black vinyl (Deranged Records #225)

ARCTIC FLOWERS - Weaver CD/LP
NOW AVAILABLE ON CD AND LP. After last year's excellent "Procession" 7", an EP that showcased the Arctic Flowers' talent for combining the tradition of anarcho/peace punk with a postpunk sensibility, the new "Weaver" continues in much the same vein. Just great mid-tempo punk rock that, in true Arctic Flowers fashion, blurs the boundaries between classic punk, postpunk, and early gothic rock. The long-running DIY background of the band's members imparts to the songs an urgency one is not likely to find in the more disingenuous bands trying to hop on the recent goth-punk bandwagon. "Weaver" is simply an excellent release. (Deranged Records #245)

B-LINES - s/t LP
B-Lines follow-up their sold out debut 7" with nine more short, sharp odes to awkwardness, alienation, and their hometown of Vancouver. Manic vocals atop perfectly simple and tuneful songs played with a frenzy that lands them in the sweet spot between hardcore and pop-punk. In keeping with their belief that LPs are for prog rock, it's all said and done before you'll have time to conceptualize your next snack. Initial pressing of 500 copies. Includes 8.5"x5" zine of lyrics and art, plus digital download. Artwork by Melanie Coles. (Deranged Records #189)

BAYONETTES - Guilty Pleasure 7"
The long delayed last BAYONETTES 7" featuring two songs, one of which was mixed by Martin Farkas from Career Suicide. This was meant to have come out for the band's last tour a few years ago but there were a number of delays. Limited to 300 copies. (Deranged Records #113)

BAYONETTES - Stuck In A Rut 7"
After endless delays, the BAYONETTES 7" is now out. Toronto's BAYONETTES play catchy melodic punk with strong female vocals. Almost two years ago, the BAYONETTES released a demo which received raving reviews from MRR but were unable to finalize their next recording session until very recently. Definitely poppy, catchy and upbeat. Absolutely great stuff. With any luck, we should see an EP later this year on DERANGED. Oh ya, the drummer used to play bass for CAREER SUICIDE for those keeping track. (Deranged Records #66)

BLACK LUNGS - Valley of the Dolls 7"
2 new songs from Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire fame. Sounds nothing like his debut album on Dine Alone or Alexsonfire which will please some and disappoint others. A real catchy punk sound with a good doze of aggro. Recorded by sir Jonah Falcon of Career Suicide and Fucked Up fame. (Deranged Records #184)

BLOODY GEARS - Landscapes of Disease LP
The first full length from Boston trio Bloody Gears. Eight tracks of dark melodic punk, bleak and bitter as New England winter. These songs express the frustrating alienation and looming despair of modern existence. Drawing their own sound from punk, postpunk, and hardcore, Bloody Gears are often compared to bands like the Wipers, Husker Du, Moving Targets, or Articles of Faith. The LP, which builds on the foundation of a demo and two 7"s, includes a different mix of the recent single "Frozen Rain." (Deranged Records #202)

BLOODY GEARS - s/t 7"
After a stunning demo last year, Boston's BLOODY GEARS return with a brilliant 7". Imagine a more aggressive WIPERS mixed with early ARTICLES OF FAITH and you get something pretty close to BLOODY GEARS. This is a no-brainer - top notch hardcore punk. MRR had this to say about the demo - "This band already has a sound that's their own, but likely draws from THE OBSERVERS and LEATHERFACE,and there's something very Midwest about these songs as well, making me think of early ARTICLES OF FAITH and HUSKER DU." (Deranged Records #160)

BRAIN KILLER - demo 7"
In addition to the recent release of their first 7" on DERANGED, VINYL RITES and DERANGED have repressed a limited quantity of BRAIN KILLER's demo as a 7". Fast, noisy, powerful hardcore with heavy influence from Japanese hardcore like BASTARD / DISCLOSE and straight forward American hardcore like DEATHREAT. Here is a review of their demo from MRR : "This demo is fucking great! Fast powerful noisy-as-fuck hardcore with some burly ass vocals and a definite DISCHARGE influence, but they are by no means a D-beat or Dis-band. They just have that element somewhere in the sound. Actually BRAIN KILLER has more than just a little bit of a DEATHREAT/BASTARD feel, but this shit totally stands on it's own. I love this and if I had any money, I'd try to put out their record! Best demo in months. (Deranged Records #147)

BRAIN KILLER - Every Actual State Is Corrupt LP
Here it is, BRAIN KILLER returns with their long awaited album. Sticking to their formula of fast America hardcore mixed with a heavy dose of noisy Japanese crust, and a layer of UK peace punk. Nice gatefold jacket. For fans of DISCHARGE, DISCLOSE, DEATHREAT and DEVOID OF FAITH. (Deranged Records #186)

BRAIN TUMORS - Fuck You Forever 7"
Midwest hardcore punk venom. Another retarded stomper for your top shelf collection. (Deranged Records #213)

BRUTAL KNIGHTS - Blown 2 Completion LP
The fifth and final BRUTAL KNIGHTS 12", BLOWN 2 COMPLETION delivers their fastest and possibly their most retarded album to date. As with previous records, the influences at play involve a mix bag of stupidity, juvenile humor, bad television, terrible food, imbalanced hormones, and believe it or not, some great hardcore punk. Most of the tracks on here are scorching fast hardcore with two mid-tempo stompers which are undoubtedly the result of a series of shows with Negative Approach. If you were a fan of their previous releases, blown 2 completion will not disappoint, it's their fastest and best record. If you didn't get the humor or cared for what they were doing before, good luck with this one! (Deranged Records #183)

BRUTAL KNIGHTS - Feast Of Shame LP
LP version out now. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Similarly, when Brutal Knights hands you a new album called Feast Of Shame, make piss in your pants, because you should be excited. The Toronto fivesome, whose debut LP(The Pleasure Is All Thine, also on Deranged Records) established them as being immature for their age, has continued making music, resulting in the 14 songs recorded by Jon Drew at Toronto's Signal To Noise studios (FUCKED UP 'hidden world', Career Suicide 'attempted suicide') and then mixed by musician Jay Reatard in Memphis. The arduous kampf that went into this release is probably what sent drummer Msgzus packing, although not before laying down awesome drumwork for the LP. Feast of Shame features BRUTAL KNIGHTS at their best - faster, rawer and dumber than before with the production to boot! The way the songs sound is like a peanut butter and white bread sandwich being eaten Lady and The Tramp-style by Joel Madden and Wendy O. Williams, while Jon Sharron sits and lets the image inspire riffs, and Nick Flanagan is also there, writing a rhyming article about the whole thing. (Deranged Records #95)

BRUTAL KNIGHTS - Living By Yourself CD (with bonus tracks)
This CD compiles their recent LIVING BY YOURSELF 12" (DERANGED/PTRASH 2008), MY LIFE MY FAULT 7", LIFE AIN'T COOL 7", TERRIBLE EVENINGS 7" and PTRASH compilation track â¤" 25 tracks only previously available on vinyl. These new tracks were recorded by the band themselves in their practice space and dare I say it is their most suitable recording to date. Besides the production, these new tracks are easily BRUTAL KNIGHTS best material to date. 'Living by yourself' continues in the retarded auditory tradition that is BRUTAL KNIGHTS and this time around, they are also complimented by a stunning full color packaging designed by the just as unbalanced SERIPOP http://www.seripop.com . BK was not only voted as the best 'punk band' in Toronto by NOW magazine for the third year in a row, their recent 'feast of shame' LP was selected as one of the top 10 'BEST PUNK ALBUMS of the YEAR' by Exclaim magazine. A second full European tour is in the works for spring 2009. (Deranged Records #135 CD)

BRUTAL KNIGHTS - Living By Yourself LP
The BRUTAL KNIGHTS are back! After a new line-up, a one and half month tour of Europe, they now deliver a new 10 song 12" EP. This is the North American version of their sold out euro tour picture disc ep originally released on Germany's Ptrash records. The DERANGED version offers 4 bonus exclusive tracks not included on the Ptrash edition. These new tracks were recorded by the band themselves in their practice space and dare I say it is their most suitable recording to date. Besides the production, this new album is easily BRUTAL KNIGHTS best material to date. 'Living by yourself' continues in the retarded auditory tradition that is BRUTAL KNIGHTS and this time around, they are also complimented by a stunning full color gatefold sleeve designed by the just as unbalanced SERIPOP. BRUTAL KNIGHTS was not only voted as the best 'punk band' by Toronto's NOW magazine for the third year in a row, their recent 'feast of shame' LP was selected as one of the top 10 'BEST PUNK ALBUMS of the YEAR' by Exclaim magazine. CD format to be released in early 2008 with a large number of bonus materials. (Deranged Records #115)

BRUTAL KNIGHTS - The Pleasure Is All Thine CD
Along with anyone lucky enough to have seen this band live, I've been praising BRUTAL KNIGHTS' greatness ever since I heard that Nick Flanagan (TEEN CRUD COMBO) and the Sharon brothers (HACKSAW) were talking about starting a new band. If you don't already know, Toronto has been responsible for some of the best current punk bands going (FUCKED UP, CAREER SUICIDE, TERMINAL STATE) and now BRUTAL KNIGHTS. Their "Not Fun" 7" (also on Deranged) raised a few eyebrows but failed to really capture their sound and intensity. Luckily, this album is not only a huge improvement with a solid mix/mastering by Jon Drew (produced both FUCKED UP 'Police' and 'Generations') but it also includes the bands best material to date making this a total shredder. I expect this will surprise most who give this record a spin. PLAY IT LOUD! A second West Coast tour is getting organized for 2006. (Deranged Records #74 CD)

BURIAL - Never Give Up... Never Give In CD
Probably the best German hardcore punk band going at the moment and to the doubtfulls, this CD should set them straight. A top notch mix of D-beat and Japanese burning spririt hardcore done superbly well. A cross between Tragedy and Japan's Crude. (Deranged Records #69)

BURIAL - Speed at Night LP
The return of Germany's BURIAL with 6 new tracks are burning spirit hardcore punk. Taking cues from Japan's DEATHSIDE and CRUDE with unrelenting hardcore mixed with a good dose of high velocity metal riffing. (Deranged Records #147)

BURNING LOVE - Demo 7"
The first vinyl offering from Toronto's BURNING LOVE featuring Chris Colohan (CURSED, LEFT FOR DEAD, RUINATION) on vocals. Originally released as a limited cassette demo in 2009, now available on vinyl. Definitely more punk than CURSED but still rooted stoner / doomy metal hardcore. 4 originals and one cover. 2nd 7" and LP coming out soonish on DERANGED and a full USA and Canadian tour later this year. (Deranged Records #162)

BURNING LOVE - Don't Ever Change B/W Jack The Ripper 7"
New 7" featuring 'Don't Ever Change' from their forthcoming SONGS FOR BURNING LOVERS LP (out early summer 2010) and a brilliant cover of Nick Cave's 'Jack the Ripper'. BURNING LOVE features Chris Colohan (CURSED, LEFT FOR DEAD, RUINATION) on vocals. Definitely more punk than CURSED but still rooted stoner/doomy metal hardcore. (Deranged Records #164)

BURNING LOVE - Songs For Burning Lovers CD
Burning Love started in 2007 as a side project to Cursed and Our Father, with the intention of making some loud and riff driven punk songs and mixing together the sounds of their varying favorites (from Black Flag and Hot Snakes to Kyuss or Turbonegro). Burning Love has since taken to the front burner, touring at home and overseas and releasing two EPs - and now, their Songs For Burning Lovers LP. Produced by Ian Blurton and mastered by Mammoth Sound, SONGS FOR BURNING LOVERS delivers 12 tracks of fierce hardcore punk. Full US tours (2 months) with Coliseum this summer, and second European tour in the fall. (Deranged Records #173)

CAREER SUICIDE - 2004 to 2005 Anthology Volume 2 CD
This CAREER SUICIDE release is the second Anthology of Releases that the band has released since their inception in early 2002. Career Suicide have made a name for themselves playing purist hardcore punk influenced by the genre's pioneers as well as drawing heavily on influences spanning first wave punk and savage 60's garage from North America and the UK. This CD contains all of the songs released in the last three years -- previously only available on vinyl ('Invisible Eyes' 12" on FeralWard, split 12" with Jed Whitey on Deranged, 'Signals' ep on Slasher/EvenWorse) as well as compiling previously unreleased tracks, rare out-takes and even a live track from their 2005 Japanese tour. Rounded out by a huge full colour poster booklet, this CD also serves as a precursor to their upcoming LP "Attempted Suicide" also on Deranged Records. (Deranged Records #79 CD)

CAREER SUICIDE - Attempted Suicide LP
It's hard to believe but after five years and a whole slew of vinyl, Toronto's CAREER SUICIDE have produced their finest record yet! The combination of machinegun drumming from Brandon Ferrell (Direct Control, Government Warning) and raw but crystal clear production from Jon Drew (Fucked Up "generation" and "Hidden World") make this LP a classic. Career Suicide manages to combine catchy 'Killed By Death' styled punk sing alongs like the title track and the raw speed and power of early hardcore whilst overwhelmingly maintaining and refining their own sound. Superb songwriting is definitely the key; there are no thirty-second-thrash filler songs here! You will find this whole LP permanently roaring through your brain. It is tighter, louder, harder, and more realized than any of the Career Suicide releases which preceded it, so do yourself a favor and pick up the best but hopefully not last LP from CAREER SUICIDE. (Deranged Records #86)

CAREER SUICIDE - Sars 7"
The Sars 7" is the second 7" from Career Suicide. After a bleak spring in quarantine, these guys decided to pick up their gear and get some tracks on wax, and the result is nothing short of greatness. Yet another great local band making their mark in Canadian punk history. Four new tracks of snotty pissed hardcore punk. They've been rightfully compared to Boston's FU's, Angry Samoans, and early Dischord titles. Features Jonah from Fucked Up on Guitar. A CD format now in the works which will include their soon to be released and ever-so delayed LP, both 7"s and demo tracks. (Deranged Records #47)

CASANOVAS IN HEAT - Ruins 7"
Casanovas In Heat are a punk band from Boston, MA. Formed in 2010, neighborhood chums, Davy & Con (also of MALE NURSES) decided to take a whack at high-energy, sweat-induced, melodic punk that they had been screwing around with since they were teenagers. They recruited fellow mavericks, Steve & Sean, to complete the dream team. Sparked by a wide-range of influences, the Casanovas want nothing more than to turn every day into a night, and every night into a crusade. A solid mix of the REPLACEMENTS and NAKED RAYGUN. (Deranged Records #221)

COUNTDOWN TO OBLIVION € Brain Surgery For Beginners 7"
Canada's Countdown To Oblivion has risen from the ashes of The Swarm, Left For Dead, and One Blood to offer up four powerful, savage, and political hardcore songs. Great music, lyrics and design. Definitely hardcore for the hardcore. (Deranged Records #3)

CRIMINAL CODE - Hollowed 7"
Follow up to their excellent 12". Full length in the works for 2013. Three new moody hardcore tracks. It used to be easy to describe Criminal Code. From the onset, they came across as straightforward sounding mid 80s Midwest hardcore styled three piece with Taiga on guitar Andrew handling the basslines. Hook filled and moodily earnest, proudly wielding a love for Husker Du. Crim Code quickly became favorites of the Northwest hardcore scene. After a handful of west coast tours and a couple of limited self released rarities, Crim Code added Miles on second guitar and Jawsh on drums.... This is where the comparisons to other acts ends. Having saw them play three times in the past 10 days I can only describe them as themselves. Once in front of a group of black clad doom punks they came off as a tightly wound psychedelic nightmare, as if My Bloody Valentine grew up playing Middle Class covers. The next, in a room filled with knucke dragging skinheads the doomiest pop you could imagine at a deafening level. The third still a pounding set of shouted agit-punk anthems that could have been the best record SST never released. With this, their third vinyl release, and the first for Deranged they continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be a a modern hardcore punk band. Oh yeah, and they aren't from Olympia. (Deranged Records #214)

CRIMINAL CODE - No Device LP
This is Tacoma, not Olympia's Criminal Code's first proper long-player deals twelve tracks of technical precision matched with brickwall power. There's a barbaric impulse festering in the twisted hearts of this Tacoma threesome, but No Device unfurls with dynamic tact and structural intricacy, sating its every aggressive urge with surgical attention to detail. With a stark palette of grizzly grays and off-white stains, Criminal Code details a singular spectrum of punk both bleak and savage. Naturally, the hardcore camp digs it because No Device extracts maximal strength from a few instruments in a minimal amount of time, but taut brooding snaps into serpentine guitar leads on enough songs for your death punk beholden to break off a piece. At any rate, Criminal Code tears down your descriptors and brings its own on No Device. A fiercely present, assertive album that dictates its own terms, listeners will find their go-to snappy little tags utterly inadequate and reductive. In the age of vaguely negative-wave nouveau and post-punk pastiche, Criminal Code is a colossal outfit casting its own long shadow. (Deranged Records #240)

CRUDE - Immortality LP
Crude's 4th full length. Immortality compiles the band's best songs to date (chosen by the band from past releases) on one monster release and confidently establishes this band as one of the top traditional Japanese hardcore bands of the past decade. This is pure "Burning Spirit" hardcore at its best. Top notch musicianship (tight, fast, well constructed and catchy as hell) and perfectly delivered vocals makes this a sure pleasure for anyone craving blazing solid Japanese hardcore. Fans of Warhead, Forward, Bastard, Gauze and other such classic outfits should take note. (Deranged #32)

CULO - Life Is Vile... And So Are We LP
'Life Is Vile ... And So Are We' compiles CULO's three sold out 7"s (Nuke Abuse, Military Trend, and Toxic Vision) plus nine bonus tracks from the same recording sessions which were previously only available on limited tape releases or not at all. Total piss and vinegar hardcore delivered at high velocity and at no expense to catchy riffing. This is a hardcore punk monster and absolutely mandatory! Comes with full color newsprint poster and download card. (Deranged Records #200)

CULO - Military Trend 7"
2nd 7" from Illinois' CULO delivers a mean whooping of Midwest hardcore punk. Nothing complicated - just well executed 80's influenced American hardcore that just happens to be well above average. (Deranged Records #180)

CULO - My Life Sucks And I Could Care Less LP
Okay, 1st off, the LP is NOT called 'The Return of Culo', look at the spine of the LP for proof of that. But in a sense, its almost a return record since the guys took a good amount of time prepping it. This LP was recorded over a weekend in mid March 2012 with their man of choice Kevin up in Lansing MI. This is definitely not a concept record, but it can almost be called a 'time and place' record since the album is a reflection of everything in the band's life when writing it, but what bands don't? If you only loved the fast stuff the band has done before, that's still present on tracks here but also the band offers more variety then ever before. To be blunt, the fast songs are faster, the mid tempo tracks are more punchy and the the rest are just downright catchy as hell. I see the 'Ramones songs made ugly' as a comparison nowadays made about a select few, and finally someone's pulls it off, even though the boys go for their own thing but that certain band is a large influence. This is a true PUNK record. And damn John's voice almost is an exact cross of Jerry and John Brannon, its so eerie the semblance. This album was just meant to happen and even if its release experienced a few delays, it's a timeless record. Nothing was spared from the record down to the look, layout and quality and what you get sounds excellent. So sit back, grab something to drink (or supply to any other habit you may have) and enjoy all that is Culo. (Deranged Records #219)

CULO - Toxic Vision 7"
The follow-up to their highly praised "Military Trend" 7". "Toxic Vision" is CULO's third 7" and it is a scorcher. Pure piss and vinegar hardcore delivered at high velocity and at no expense to catchy riffing. Mandatory! (Deranged Records #185)

DAVIDIANS - s/t 7"
Summer 2013- Brian Walsby returns from his annual gig as road-dog extraordinaire for MELVINS to his adopted home of Raleigh, NC. He quickly learns of the untimely demise of his proto-HxCx band DOUBLE NEGATIVE during his absence. Undaunted, he and fellow -D/N-er's Justin Gray & Cameron Craig soldier forward. Joined by Minneapolis lost boy, Colin Swanson-White (SAFEWORDS, VOIGHT-KAMPFF) they immediately embark upon a darker path. Blasting forth a rumbling, angular and aggressive post-punk rock. Debut 7". (Deranged Records #248)

DIVINE RIGHT - s/t LP
Someone call Elliot Stabler because I feel violated and dirty. Think of a full body massage with a baseball bat full of nails, my body is oozing with filth and tetanus. When I think about you, I don't wanna, don't wanna touch myself, I wanna do bad things. This is not the one that got away, it's the one that changed my ways. Bring this one to the bank because it's the last time you will live out your fantasy's, Divine right is done. I'm about to bust, my parents are in the next room and I"m afraid they are going to walk in on this "Freakshow". You can "Play this at my Funeral" or while I'm turning blue. (Deranged Records #228)

DUMBSTRUCK - If It Ain't Broke... 7"
Seven new songs from England's Dumbstruck. Five are originals, and two are cover tracks; "Break The Chains" by Deathwish, and "Pure Hate" by Poison Idea. All seven songs were recorded prior to the LP that was released on 625 Productions. Dumbstruck is ex-Ripcord, and these songs are great brutal ditties that hark back to the powerful songs that Ripcord was thrashing out in the early '90s. The vocal work is much better on this 7" than on the LP, and all in all these songs are better than the LP's material. (Deranged Records #29)

E.T.A. - No Faith CD
More negative and brutal thrash from Epileptic Terror Attack. Thirteen blistering spastic thrashers about skateboarding, hating the world, and not giving a fuck. They do a Circle Jerks cover and they love early '80s hardcore. Recorded during the same session as the songs on their split with Tear It Up. (Deranged Records #12)

EAGULLS - s/t LP
The ferocious post-punk 5 piece bands, Eagulls based in Leeds, England are pleased to share their 5 track EP on Canada's prestigious punk label Deranged. A few lucky folks have been able to catch the band's European shows. The shows received high accolades as some of the most thrilling and visceral performances ever. EAGULLS has shared the stage with Iceage, Milk Music, Ceremony, and Fucked Up. The five tracks - "Coffin", "Moulting", "No If's, No Buts", "Cripple" and "Still Born"; Drawing from a wide variety of influences, EAGULLS manage to create something new, while still paying homage to classical punk. (Deranged Records #224)

FUCKED UP - Dangerous Fumes 7"
This new single features two new tracks one of which is exclusive to this release and bound to cause a little commotion over its lyrical contents. Without getting into too many details, the song tackles one of society's biggest taboos in that 'fucked up' kinda of way. Actually, it really doesn't 'tackle' the subject at all but does definitely bring attention to it without taking a clear stand on the issue. "Dangerous Fumes" continues where their "Litany" 7" ep left off - killer hardcore punk. (Deranged Records #82)

FUCKED UP - Epics In Minutes CD
For those unfamiliar with the band, they have 5 singles out already, a split 7" with Haymaker on the way, along with a full length in the not so distant future. They are from Toronto, Canada and they feature Jonah from Career Suicide and Mike from Ruination. They are going on a short tour of the USA in late march along side Punch In The Face and Fourteen Or fight. A good number of the tracks found on the CD have appeared on vinyl in one shape or another but this CD features a number of previously unreleased mixes, demo tracks and part of a radio set. The whole project was re-mastered by Jon Drew who was responsible for making the Police 7" so damn devastating in the first place. (Deranged Records #53 CD)

FUCKED UP - Hidden World LPx2
"Hidden World," FUCKED UP's first full-length release, was recorded at Signal to Noise Studios with Jon Drew (Brutal Knights, Career Suicide). The album marks a turning point for FUCKED UP, transcending the boundaries of traditional hardcore with melody, aggression and expansive songwriting structures. FUCKED UP taps into its collective influences, but in a challenging way that's off the beaten path of current hardcore traditions. In a word, FUCKED UP and "Hidden World" are dangerous in a time when hardcore has become predictable, stale and manufactured. Packaged as a double LP gatefold with over hour's worth of music. (Deranged Records #87)

FUCKED UP - Police 7"
Their second and best 7" which includes their song 'Police." This record only reaffirms the superb song writing and delivery abilities of this young Canadian band. Catchy, powerful straight forward, yet melodic hardcore punk. A fresh combination of mid-tempo growling vocals ala Negative Approach and driving rhythm like Adolescents/Germs. A full-length now in the works. (Deranged Records #33)

FUTURE BINDS - s/t 7"
Debut release from this new Raleigh band featuring 3/4 of Sorry State faves Pure Scum. Their sound has matured since the raw, scrappy days of Pure Scum (after all, the members are like 17 now!)... everything is faster, tighter, more complex, and generally more locked-in, but still benefitting from Anthony's powerful, straightforward drumming and Lucas's authoritative vocals. Future Binds rep their Out Cold influence pretty hard, but with such a tight performance and loud, clear recording this reminds me more of Antidote or maybe Government Warning / Wasted Time (though less melodic than the former and not as mosh-y as the latter). Pure Raleigh hardcore. Strongly recommended. (Deranged Records #237)

GIVE - Boots Of Faith 7"
DC's GIVE offer up two more excellent revolution summer influenced jams with SWIZ as the obvious comparison. This is no little feat but these 5 lads manage to hold their own against a band that set the bar very high in my book. POWER oozes from both the music and the vocals at no expense to style and melody. With a 12" and another 7" under their belt, these songs might just be their strongest to date. Recorded at Inner Ear studio - where else!!! (Deranged Records #176)

GIVE - Singles Going Confetti LP
Every once in awhile the underground music world gives birth to a new band that reminds some of us why we're still here in the first place. I'm not just talking about a breath of fresh air. I'm talking about being handed a ticket to ride a time machine, gaining telekenetic powers, and some Spock mind-meld-type shit. Absolute emotional possesion with mental and physical reprecussions. If you've ever witnessed their untouchable live set, read the suggestive/provocative lyrics to "I Am Love", or admired their flower power aesthetic you know I'm talking about the mother lovin' GIVE! Singles Going Confetti is the second chapter in the history of this Washington, DC quintet and not un-like Aliens, Empire Strikes Back, or Batman Returns- the sequel is better than the original. These 11 songs collect all five of their singles released on Youngblood, PainKiller, Triple B, React, and Deranged Records with one brand new track exclusive to this record. Singles Going Confetti will be sure to pleasure, confuse, and grow on all of us until our head's explode like a rose. Flowerheads come and take me over. (Deranged Records #220)

GUILTY FACES - Domestic Bliss LP
After a well-received 7", a lineup change, countless wasted nights, girl problems, spilled beers, cheap highs and the occasional tour, Guilty Faces return with their debut LP "Domestic Bliss". A mix of early 80's hardcore punk with the driving force of the Adolescents, Circle Jerks, as well as the fervent melody of bands like The Replacements, Husker Du, and The Wipers, the band offers up ten songs about the joys of ruining yourself/life and the perils that follow. Snotty and poignant lyrics, hard and tuneful riffs and a great recording from Ryan Abbott (Social Circkle/Side Two Studios) make this LP a definite must for fans of hardcore punk and depraved personalities of all sorts. (Deranged Records #141)

HACKSAW - Turned Up Turned Down CD/LP
Nine more ditties from Hacksaw. This time around they have pretty much forgotten their early Swiz roots and instead they just go straight up rockin' hardcore. A lot like their last CD and split 7". Rockin' out and having a high energy good time. This is available on CD and LP. (Deranged Records #23)

HIGHSCORE - New Fuel LP
Musically, Highscore are playing high energy youth crew style hardcore, comparable to Uniform Choice. Loud, powerful vocals screamed over fast straight ahead hardcore with some chorus parts just to keep you involved is what Highscore does best. Their lyrics are all pro-hardcore and anti-rock star. Down to earth and just rockin' as best they can with no regrets. Solid and totally energetic. (Deranged Records #16)

HOLIER THAN THOU? - High On Barbecue LP (one sided)
This one side 12" is the newest installment of skate-rock crossover from Oxnard, California's own geniuses, Holier than Thou?. After a great 7" EP and LP on Six Weeks Records, High On Barbecue follows in the same steps with mental vocals, speed metal/crossover riffs and all around well feed aggressive hardcore. Total early RKL and Accused worship. The 12" includes five new tracks as well as a Motorhead cover. Touring Europe this summer. (Deranged Records #42)

HOLIER THAN THOU? - Riviera Sessions CD
Riviera Sessions includes the one sided High On Barbecue LP as well as three tracks from their upcoming European 7". This CD features the newest installment of skate-rock crossover from Oxnard, California's own geniuses, Holier than Thou?. After a great 7" EP and LP on Six Weeks Records, Riviera Sessions follows in the same steps with mental vocals, speed metal/crossover riffs and all around well feed aggressive hardcore. Total early RKL and Accused worship. Holier Than Thou? will be touring Europe this summer. (Deranged Records #42)

IMPULSE INTERNATIONAL - Point of Action LP
From the ashes of DIRT BIKE ANNIE (Dirtnap Records) comes the IMPULSE, INT'L. - a trio from New Jersey by way of Florida that delivers an album's worth of excellent guitar driven powerpop gems. They mix the guitar hooks of the REAL KIDS with the upbeat tempo of UK powerpopers the BUZZCOCKS. Nothing complicated, just really catchy punk! CD format on Dirtnap. (Deranged Records #155)

THE IMPULSE INTERNATIONAL - The Real Kid 7"
Here we have the second single from NJ's (by way of Florida) IMPULSE INT'L and it's another power pop gem. As a comparison, the IMPULSE INT'L remind me of PAUL COLLINS BEAT's ROCK N ROLL GIRL which pretty much means they play extremely catchy power pop . Their first single (also on DERANGED) received top notch reviews and this is more of the same brilliant sound. An album is now in the works and an EP on MUTANT POP records is expected any day now. (Deranged Records #129)

THE IMPULSE INTERNATIONAL - Run And Hide 7"
From the ashes of DIRT BIKE ANNIE (Dirtnap Records) comes the IMPULSE, INT'L. - a trio from New Jersey that delivers 2 excellent guitar driven powerpop gems. The y mix the guitar hooks of the REAL KIDS with the upbeat tempo of UK powerpopers the BUZZCOCKS. Nothing complicated, just really catchy punk! (Deranged Records #116)

INSTITUTE - s/t LP
Initially record as a demo and now released as their debut 12" ep. One of the many bands popping up in Austin's buzzing punk scene, Institute leans to the punk side of post-punk. They recall Crisis & Coitus Int. with a mix of anarcho bands thrown in there too. Members of Wiccans, Glue, & Recide. (Deranged Records #244)

INTENSITY - The Ruins of Our Future LP
Powerful and hard hitting thrashcore from this seasoned hardcore outfit. The lyrics are political and the music is fast and furious with plenty of style. Fifteen original tracks as well as a cover of Citizens Arrest's "In The Distance." Awesome hardcore. (Deranged Records #18)

MALE NURSES - s/t 7"
Another hardcore gem from the Boston region. MALE NURSES mix the Midwest hardcore sound of the 80's with the South California mood of the same era. (Deranged Records #167)

MARVELOUS DARLINGS - I Don't Wanna Go To The Party 7"
The first offering from Toronto's MARVELOUS DARLINGS is finally here. Featuring Ben Cook and Matt Delong from NO WARNING and VIOLENT MINDS, the MARVELOUS DARLINGS take catchy punk to a level rarely seen or heard. The A-side track from this single is an absolute modern punk classic with killer RAMONES riffage and I say this with confidence. Not to overshadow the excellence of 'Careerist' (the B-side), 'I don't wanna go to the party' is the obvious standout track on this record. (Deranged Records #114)

MARVELOUS DARLINGS - Single Life LP/CD
For the uninitiated, the Marvelous Darlings features Ben Cook from FUCKED UP doing some of the best 77'punk meets power pop since the EXPLODING HEARTS. Single Life compiles a string of 7" vinyl releases by the Darlings, which have all now long sold out. As great as the singles are on their own, this is one of those cases where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. CD format and download coupon (for LP) includes 5 bonus demo takes of their hits. (Deranged Records #201/#204 CD)

MATURE SITUATIONS - Old Hands 7"
Mature Situations, the band, was borne of the need to trivialize the grievances and tribulations of the elderly, (in a sexual manner where possible), so as to anger karma and preemptively flip off the inevitable pants-shitting, Viagra-snorting, hip-replacing, sour-milk smelling future of all men. Is nothing sacred? Four new songs, featuring Chris Colohan (LEFT FOR DEAD , CURSED). (Deranged Records #165)

THE MEN - Immaculada CD
THE MEN's self-released debut album originally limited to 500 copies now remastered and available on CD format for the first time. 8 songs of desperate, fuzzed out, riff laden punk/post-punk. This release really is an excellent mash of shoegaze and drony soundscapes with buried vocals beneath it all. Dreamy at times, with that Sonic Youth vibe. Track listing: 1. Stranger Song, 2. Problems/Burning UP, 3. Grave Desecration, 4. Madonna: Star of the Sea, 5. Lazarus, 6. Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition, 7. Oh, Yoko, 8. Immaculada. (Deranged Records #196)

THE MEN - Immaculada LP
Repress of THE MEN's self-released debut album originally limited to 500 copies. Eight songs of desperate, fuzzed out, riff laden punk/post-punk. This release really is an excellent mash of shoegaze and drony soundscapes with buried vocals beneath it all. Dreamy at times, with that Sonic Youth vibe. This pressing was remastered and comes with deluxe tip on jacket. (Deranged Records #196)

MOLESTED YOUTH - We're Always... 7"
Degenerate hardcore from Toronto. After a number of line up changes Molested Youth deliver their debut 7" which blends the stomping in-your face hardcore with the loose velocity of Boston classics like DEEP WOUND. Raw as hell recording courtesy of Jonah Falco which only adds to the beating. (Deranged Records #171)

NATURAL LAW - Find The Flock LP
NYC/DC's Natural Law finally returns with their definitive statement as a band, both musically and ideologically. Far surpassing their previous material, the band has settled into a sound that places them as a contemporary version of late-era Minor Threat. With a cleaner, fuller recording courtesy of Ser Willem Dandy of the House Deadair, Natural Law has finally fulfilled their potential and Find The Flock stands as a monolith amongst their catalog. (Deranged Records #203)

NEGATIVE DEGREE - s/t 7"
Colorado boys who say they want to sound like Formaldehyde Junkies or Government Issue and then they go and cover Discharge. Their bassist is probably the only dude to ever wear a bandana or flip up hat that you don't feel like throwing your drink at. There may or may not be some fingerless gloves going on. (Deranged Records #227)

NEGATIVE LIFESTYLE - Panic 7"
2nd 7" from Sweden's Negative Lifestyle offers more of the same sloppy 80's hardcore punk by way of Europe. On Panic, the band returns with 7 new tracks that include a few melodic gems that really sets this record apart. No bullshit, no reverb, no trend-hop - just a three piece trying to play pop songs using 80's hardcore as its medium. (Deranged Records #195)

NEIGHBORHOOD BRATS - Birth Right 7"
Recorded during their transition from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Birth Right is the fourth (or fifth?) release by Neighborhood Brats. Darker in tone and focus than their previous releases, Neighborhood Brats deliver four doses of loud, unapologetic hardcore-tinged punk rock in the vein of BLACK FLAG if they were in the middle of an orgy with THE LEWD and LEGAL WEAPON. Side B features a cover of YOUTH OF TODAY's Break Down the Walls. Simultaneously being released is a compliation of the BRATS early San Francisco material. (Deranged Records #232)

NEIGHBORHOOD BRATS - No Sun No Tan LP
Compilation LP of the first three Neighborhood Brats releases: Neighborhood Brats EP, We Own the Night 7" and Ocean Beach Party 7". Also includes two unreleased studio tracks. Often described as Black Flag meets the Avengers with a Killed By Death and Dangerhouse-inspired method of attack, this is the complete recorded output of the band's first year of existence, prior to their relocation from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Helmed by vocalist Jenny Angelillo and guitarist George Rager, and featuring the Brats' original rhythm section lineup consisting of bassist Jasmine Watson and drummer Kirk Podell (both pulled simultaneous double-duty in Neo Cons). (Deranged Records #233)

NEO CONS - Idiot Circus 7"
Final release from these Bay Area bozos featuring six high energy hardcore-by-death stompers and their loudest, nastiest recording yet. If you haven't caught em live, prepare for a sweaty mess of pig piles and manic stupidity. (Deranged Records #229)

NEO CONS - s/t 7"
Debut record for San Francisco's NEO CONS featuring Jason from 86 MENTALITY. Six songs of piss and vinegar hardcore punk with heavy KBD sensibilities. I hear some ZERO BOYS and some early NEW BOMB TURKS - fantastic slab of wax. (Deranged Records #192)

NEON PISS - s/t LP
"Playing music is a challenge...if you want it to be good. If you want your music to mean something, then it needs to speak to people the minute it hits their ears, and that is the challenge. NEON PISS have been crafting their debut vinyl release for nearly two years, but you get the impression that this was an inevitable result - a vision realized when these four dudes started playing punk together. Everything about NEON PISS sounds familiar, you know how you are going to feel as soon as you hear the opening swagger of "Tabula Rasa," and they are every bit as good as you hope they are going to be. An LP full of songs that will make you feel instantly comfortable - you might have seen this movie, you've just never seen it acted quite this well, and the production this time around is sheer perfection. You are welcome to dismiss this as some more of that melodic punk that you are too cool to admit that you like, but you would be a fool. Yes, the songs are catchy, and yes NEON PISS will get stuck in your head and even sometimes put a spring in your step, but this shit is deep and these songs are as close to utter brilliance as I can ever remember hearing." Robert Collins/terminal escape blogspot Tuneful melodic punk not unlike the OBSERVERS. (Deranged Records #207)

NITAD - Ibland Kan Man Inte Hindra Sig Sjalv LP
After a number of 7" releases in 2006 and 2007, NITAD offers its first album with 12 new tracks of mid tempo hardcore punk. Where as their earlier records were more straight forward fast hardcore, this time around, NITAD have taken a slowed things down slightly to a mid tempo speed and sound like a less layered / more raw FUCKED UP (hidden world period). Excellent artwork to be avoided under the influence of any hallucinogens. (Deranged Records #125)

NK 6 - Keep On Keeping On CD
Hailing from Japan, NK 6 dish out nine blasts of hard hitting hardcore. The style is pretty classic Japanese thrash with a bit of melody and a crazed approach (would you expect anything less?!). Produced by Fugu of Gauze fame. Now Available on CD. (Deranged Records #15)

NO CLASS - Keine Klasse LP
Q: What do you get when you combine bad relationships, growing up in the bible belt, undying teenage angst and filter it through a complete lack of discretion, while on the brink of a nervous breakdown? A: Ten and a half tracks of foot stomping, knuckle dragging, Midwest hardcore, entirely apathetic to your personal feelings...No. Fucking. Class. (Deranged Records #182)

NO CLASS - Keine Klasse II LP
Keine Klasse II is No Class' 2nd attempt at peering out of their 'Neanderthalic' cave in which they reside. Perceiving a world which they still don't care for, Keine Klasse II picks up the motion where Keine Klasse left off, with 10 more tracks of knuckle dragging commentary on your identity, religion, scene and whatever else rubs them the wrong way. Which is pretty much everything. With the right touch of hate and sarcasm..... it's fast, it's slow, it's intellectual, and of course, moronic. Nice gatefold jacket to boot. (Deranged Records #206)

NO MORE ART - Tough To Breathe 7"
No More Art is comprised of people from rather dissimilar backgrounds in music, but the elements are easy enough to lay out. There are the surf-drenched guitars, the complementary female vocals, and the rock 'n' roll frenzy of X (Los Angeles), some of what has been brewing in Denmark and Sweden over the last decades with bands like MASSHYSTERI / VICIOUS, and NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS, but also with lots of melody and leads that is reminiscent of 80's LA bands like SOCIAL DISTORTION and ADOLESCENTS, all infused with a unique quality of their own. Lead singer Milo has been around for some years now as a singer song writer in her own solo project ROSIE TIE. Drummer Juan Miguel has been busy on the heavier side of music, playing guitar in bands like LOS DOLARES, LEADERSHIT, ETACARINAE, and PELIGRO!, in Barcelona over the past decade. Will has also done time in many bands over the past decade with groups BORN/DEAD, DESOLATION, SUICIDE BOMB, DOPECHARGE, and most recently Portland's RED DONS. (Deranged Records #217)

NO PROBLEM - Already Dead LP
New album from Edmonton's NO PROBLEM. After their stellar debut they deliver a sophomore full-length that takes their frustrated and paranoid hardcore-punk to a new level. Still taking cues from BLACK FLAG, D.O.A. or TSOL, they add darker and more melodic elements to the mix. This is music for maladjusted adults who are too old to be able to relate to teenage problems, but whose feelings of alienation have in no way withered with age, and are looking for something that musically and lyrically captures the frustration of adult punk life. NO PROBLEM effectively fusing hardcore with catchy yet aggressive or paranoid melody. They are going on their 2nd European this in May with Voight Kampff. (Deranged Records #243)

NOMOS - Notes From The Acheron LP
Follow-up to their highly praised demo, NOMOS return with a one-side 12" with an etched B-side. Six new rippers influenced equally by early 80's rippers like Poison Idea, Void, and Antidote and early 90's hardcore such as Citizen's Arrest, No Comment, and Infest. Recorded by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios and featuring artwork and layout by Vincent Smith. (Deranged Records #179)

THE NUMBER ONES - s/t CD
The Number Ones (AKA THE #1s) will take you to power pop heaven with their razor sharp 10 track self titled debut album. They are a Dublin based four-piece featuring members of Cian Nugent and The Cosmos (Matador / No Quarter), Cheap Freaks (Big Neck), Strong Boys (Milk Run), and The Pacifics (Bachelor). Even though they are based in Dublin, they sound like a classic Good Vibrations band from 1979. The Number Ones have energy, passion and tunes so good, it makes you think you've heard them already. Each track is a golden nugget of power pop fun that never outlasts it's welcome as every track is under three minutes. Although this sort of music seems to have been done a million times before, it sounds fresh in the hands of The Number Ones. This is pure summer fun for fans of Rudi, Protex, Exploding Hearts, Buzzcocks and The Tranzmitors. (Deranged Records #256 CD)

ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS - My Father's House 7"
Unless you are from Toronto or have been following the Canadian Indie scene closely for the last two years, chances you probably have not heard of this gem of a band. Definitely not your typical Deranged release but it is a great pleasure to be releasing $100's second installment in their regional 7" series. 'My Father's House' continues in the same vein folk country psych as their highly praised Forest of Tears album from last year. (Deranged Records #156)

OUR WAR - If You're Not Now... 10"/CD
Featuring ex-members of Chokehold, Left for Dead, Swarm and Haymaker, Our War come at you with some pissed off straight edge hardcore from the frozen wastelands of Canada. They are angry, let down, and ready to explode. Songs about staying true, fallen friends, failed promises, and hardcore pride set to a rumble of brutal hardcore and screaming vocals. Straight edge, straight edge, straight edge. Did I mention that Our War are straight edge? Pissed and powerful. Available on both 10" and CD. (Deranged Records #24)

PITFALL - s/t 7"
Pitfall was started back in 2010 when the original members of Punch In The Face kicked around the idea of starting an older punk & oi influenced band for fun. The band was worked on for a while but due to personal tragedy, major illness, and other factors it never got off the ground. Eventually, three of the members got together and recorded the songs in 2012 in their practice space and released them as a cassette. This 7" ep is six songs from that 2012 recording. Members of Los Crudos and Charles Bronson. (Deranged Records #242)

PLEASURE LEFTIST - s/t LP (1st LP)
Their first 12", previously on FANDEATH, available again through Deranged. Not to be confused with their 2nd 12", also on deranged. Tracks are: Nature of Feeling, Morning in a Room, Suits, Animal Heart, Future Fights, Passage on a Ghost Ship. (Deranged Records #249)

PLEASURE LEFTISTS - s/t (2nd) LP
On the follow-up to their 2 song EP on Katorga Works (which features both songs off the EP), Pleasure Leftists have expanded upon the moody post-punk they're known for. With these songs, however, the chorusy bass is much more prominent than on their 12 inch debut EP and brings a darker feel to the sound. On first listen it seems easy to compare that sound to that of bands like Masshysteri or Terrible Feelings, but give it a few more spins and you begin to find a lot more depth and weirdness than the often straight-forward approach of the aforementioned. The most notable standout of PL for me is the rare and fiercely original vocal approach of lead singer Haley. Prior to being recruited, Haley was known for her radio show, and since has begun her own solo project called Kiernan Paradise, which sheds light on a more electronic synthy background. Her often incoherent banshee croons set a mood which envelops and entrances you, and the guitar and bassist are smart enough to back it up subtly and simply with jangly leads and dutiful rhythms. Not at all what one might expect from two former members of 9 Shocks Terror, but good enough to make you forget any comparison or dissection. "Hunger Split" accents the rest of the songs perfectly with its surprising brightness in the midst of the otherwise-broody record. The ensuing "Not Over" conjures some Twee elements with its soft loose guitars and driving bass. (Deranged Records #239)

POISON CONTROL - The Violent Years 7"
The Violent Years 7" is POISON CONTROL's first and in all likelihood, their last release. Though this Boston band has already called it quits, the four tracks are sure to leave folks wanting more. Featuring ex-CUT THE SHIT members. Solid mid-tempo US hardcore. Europeans should be warned that there is a swastika and an image of Hitler on the front cover. (Deranged Records #106)

PREGNANCY SCARES - Mind Control 7"
When they're not busy with their other projects (the Steve Adamyk Band, Crusades, the Ottawa Explosion festival, Bruised Tongue Records, etc.), four dudes in Ottawa make harsh, noisy hardcore under the name Pregnancy Scares. The EP blasts through four songs in six minutes, and shows that the band are capable of evolving their sound without sacrificing any of the raw aggression that they're known for. (Deranged Records #250)

PREGNANCY SCARES - s/t 7"
Pissed off punk from Ottawa, Ontario. Building from the chaos of their 2011 demo tape, Pregnancy Scares' debut 7" represents a band that have spent the past year honing their craft without sacrificing the relentless rhythms, vocal venom, or "Born Against aggro-in-the-raw, art-wracked Circus Lupus styling", that's become synonymous with Pregnancy Scares since their inception. (Deranged Records #216)

REACTIONARIES - Ingenuity LP
Featuring ex DEADSTOP members. Late 2006 is when The Reactionaries put their heads together and decided to dig deeper than they ever had before, to go beyond the limitations of whatever genre there may be and just write music for the love of writing music. It took a few line up changes and a small hiatus for the ball to really get rolling. But now that it's rolling, it seems like it ain't gonna be stopped any time soon. Recorded over the span of close to half a year during late 2008 and early 2009 with the help of Krist Torfs (White Circle Crime Club), "Ingenuity" proves that there still are bands with the balls to do things on their own terms, no matter what self proclaimed connaisseurs have proclaimed as being the "new cool thing". Drawing from a wide range of influences, this is the kind of record that music lovers will be able to sink their teeth into, no matter what their vinyl collection looks like. From the haunting, heartbroken yet still somehow surprisingly upbeat "Fool For You", to the groovy, riff heavy "Changes", The Reactionaries made sure every ounce of sweat and every bit of soul transpired into their songs. The result? I guess one could say it's something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Soulful, dynamic, fuzzy garage punk. Or maybe it's not. Other than crancking up "Ingenuity" real loud, the only way to really find out and truly discover The Reactonaries is to see them in a live setting. Those who've seen them on their string of shows with The Damned, or any other show for that matter, will surely testify to this. (Deranged Records #145)

RED DONS - Death To Idealism LP (gatefold)
LP version out now!! The Red Dons are the continuation of the Observers. After members abruptly left the band in 2005, Douglas Burns, the Observers' lead singer, artist, and primary songwriter teamed up with Hajji Husayn to continue on with the band. Next, Justin Maurer (Clorox Girls) on guitar and re-named this new line-up the Red Dons. Death to Idealism is the group's first full-length album, and is perfect for fans of the Vicious, No Hope For the Kids, Gorilla Angreb, Clorox Girls, and of course the Observers. As to be expected, this record stays in tune with the melancholy, melodic, and sometimes unpredictable punk sounds of the Observers, and even features the excellent 'Walk Alone' track which appeared on a previous Observers 7" . Vinyl version comes with full color gatefold cover. The Red Dons are currently on an extensive European tour with an full tour of the USA planned for later in 2007. (Deranged Records #111)

RED DONS - Fake Meets Failure CD
The dawn of a new decade is upon us and Doug Burns (Lead singer/songwriter/artist of THE OBSERVERS) has a new band, the RED DONS, featuring Daniel Hajji Husayn, Richard Joachim Preinesberger, and a rotating cast of characters including Justin Maurer (Clorox Girls), Will Kinser (Born/Dead), Zack Brooks (Soda Pop Kids), and Andy Foote (The Physical Challenge). Combining TSOL-like vocals, SoCal punk rage, and the defiant melancholy of Pacific Northwesterners like the WIPERS this powerful release rises above the stack of contemporaries that take on the early 80s punk sound. No retro fashion hype, no flavor of the month. (Deranged Records #169 CD)

RED DONS - Fake Meets Failure LP
The '00s or whatever you wanna call the last decade is over, and the results are in. Honorable independent publications and the ever growing "blogosphere" outdid themselves with Top 5, Top 10, and Top 100 lists of records that were issued in the last ten years. A common find among these lists was the seminal SO WHAT'S LEFT NOW? LP by Portland, Oregon's THE OBSERVERS released on VINYL WARNING in 2004. Named after a group of Cambridge professors that operated as spies for the Soviet Union in WW2, the RED DONS continue where the OBSERVERS left off with added elements of Arabic themes in both the artwork and sound. After the much lauded release of their debut album and successfully touring the US, Canada, Europe, and Brazil, the RED DONS entered a Portland studio to record ten new tracks. On this new album FAKE MEETS FAILURE (DERANGED RECORDS / TAKEN BY SURPRISE RECORDS), the band successfully develops their unique style even further. Coded lyrics about vagabond characters moving back and forth between the lines of the current climate of fear and suspicion that has been brought upon the USA by the war on terror. Again, consistent songwriting and a great production make this record stand out among the current competition. Combining TSOL-like vocals, SoCal punk rage, and the defiant melancholy of Pacific Northwesterners like the WIPERS this powerful release rises above the stack of contemporaries that take on the early 80s punk sound. No retro fashion hype, no flavor of the month. When this year turns, be sure to find this LP in the leading spots of Top 5, Top 10 and Top 100 lists of 2010. Though members are now scattered across the globe, the RED DONS will tour the USA in July 2010 and set sail for Europe in the spring of 2010. So What's Left Now? A hell of an aftermath to follow...one hell of a followup record, and one great, fierce force of a touring machine known as RED DONS. (Deranged Records #169)

RED DONS - Pariah 7"
Limited single from their FAKE MEETS FAILURE album. (Deranged Records #170)

REGULATIONS - To Be Me LP
Felix Von Havoc described it best - After the break up of Epileptic Terror Attack these Umea punks decided to go back to the roots and start a new band with more of an emphasis on roots hardcore punk sounds. Looking to the early LA punk scene and late 70's Swedish punk for inspiration, Regulations have the raw energy of hardcore with the catchy and memorable songwriting of early punk. "To Be Me", the band's third album, continues in the same fashion as their highly praised previous albums. As strong, if not better than their first two albums, "To Be Me" is another punk classic. (Deranged Records #159)

SAFEWORDS - s/t LP
Taking nods from SISTERS OF MERCY and RED LORRY, YELLOW LORRY, SAFEWORDS burn the drum machines and chorus pedals on the altar and combine equal parts WIPERS and CHRISTIAN DEATH to bring you (post-mortem) 11 tracks of catchy death(rock)-(post)punk that will have you locked in your bedroom flipping this piece of wax over and over again 'til the sky's gone out. ian curtis singing for the Wipers. (Deranged Records #236)

SEDATIVES - s/t LP
Debut album from Ottawa's SEDATIVES is now available for pre-order. After a very well received debut 7" (see reviews below), the SEDATIVES deliver a monster album. Featuring members of Buried Inside, Last Communion, White Wires, and the Million Dollar Marxists, the SEDATIVES do it dark, desperate, and minimal. An archaic sound from the gothic ages of punk...when punk was catchy, but also dangerous. Going back to the three chord song, with downstrokes, vicious energy, and the two minute deadline. Sacred by the organ, it's night church in the post apocalyptic wasteland. (Deranged Records #150)

SLAVESCENE - Fuck Off 7"
Ex- CULT RITUAL offers up one hell of an introduction with two noisy hardcore tracks. Reminds me of a way noisy FLIPPER meets Born Against. For fans of CULT RITUAL and TOTAL ABUSE. First press on blue vinyl. (Deranged Records #151)

SMALLTOWN - Implosion CD
Smalltown's second full length is "Implosion" and as expected, it is a total melodic punk explosion. More of the same great melodic mod influenced punk found on their last album "The Music" full of ultra catchy, anthemic songs with raw tuneful vocals and teeth clenching riffs. Think the STRIKE and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS. Their last single was hailed as "one of the best disc of the decade" in MRR, I'm not going to argue - this band should be huge. US tour in the works for this summer. (Deranged Records #133 CD)

SMALLTOWN - The Music CD
Finally, the first Smalltown full length - 'The Music' continues where the 'Years, Months' 7" left off. More of the same great melodic mod influenced punk - ultra catchy, anthemic songs with raw tuneful vocals and teeth clenching riffs. Think the Strike and Stiff Little Fingers. Their last single was hailed as "one of the best disc of the decade" in MRR - I'm not going to argue - this band should be huge, this record might just do it... 12 brilliant tracks which are bound to grab a whole lot of attention. (Deranged Records #62)

SMALLTOWN - Years, Months 7"
Deranged is proud to have this three piece Swedish outfit join the roster. With two solid 7"s under their belt, but still little exposure in North America, this 7" should turn a few heads. They've been compared to the likes of Still Little Fingers and Newtown Neurotics and that's probably as good a comparison as it gets. Tuneful and melodic punk rock with slightly rasapy vocals. They are working on a full length now. (Deranged Records #51)

SMARTBOYS - s/t 7"
Mike Haliechuk and Jonah Falco from Fucked Up team up like Jonesy and Paul Cook to tap the melody and simplicity of what they already know about writing music and fire it even further into the endless prism of the late 70s. Ribbony Bowie-esque vocals over big guitars and heavy drums nodding to Northern Ireland, Northern England, and other anachronistic punk pleasures. (Deranged Records #226)

SPECTRES - Nothing to Nowhere LP
Spectres are a Post Punk band from Vancouver, B.C. originally formed largely as a studio only project by Brian Gustavson and Steve Hanker In Coombs, British Columbia. After self releasing several demos both Gustavson and Hanker relocated to Vancouver and brought Heather and Nathan Szilagyi in on Drums and Bass, and Zach Batalden in on second guitar. Heather Szilagyi would soon be replaced by Steve Gerenscer on drums, and after releasing two singles and touring the west coast with the Estranged Hanker would leave the band to be replaced by Tyler Pilling. 2010 saw the release of the band's first full length LP, LAST DAYS which was followed in 2011 by a European tour and a split 7" with Arctic Flowers. NOTHING TO NOWHERE is the new album and the Spectres most ambitious to date, with ten new songs that push the band's sound in new directions. (Deranged Records #222)

THE STAKEOUT - On The Run LP/CD
Hailing from Finland, these 5 gents play nothing but good old fashion '80s inspired US hardcore comparable to the likes of Jerry's Kids and some have said Minor Threat but I would stick with the Boston influences personally. If anything, this record reminds me of the first DS-13 7" - fast, furious, loud and damn solid. Did I mention this band features two dudes from the legendary Selfish - pro fuc.ken bono! They have a 7", a split 7" and a split LP (on Six Weeks Records) already out but this is their best and strongest recording to date. (Deranged Records #46)

STATUES - Holiday Cops LP
Canada is so proud of their native sons that the country erected a massive golden monument to the STATUES in the middle of their hometown and sent all cops on holiday so that the punks could dance around it singing 'Hurray Hurray! a new STATUES album saw the light of day!' On this third album, the three Pop-Punk scientists refined their formula in these 10 brand new songs and poured in some drops of DEVO, SPITS and FUTUREHEADS that lets the test tube eruptively foam over with joy, heart, guts and splendid melodies! You want your beloved poppy tunes? You got 'em in 'Holiday cops', 'Reflux' and your new hymn to youth and the weekend 'Young enough'. You need more cool and loud bass lines? Try 'Stop watch' and the critical, exploding 'Self Help Con Job' to satisfy your appetite. After two European tours, I've been told we can expect STATUES to venture south of the boarder, possibly for a West Coast tour in late 2010. (Deranged Records #166)

STATUES - New People Make Us Nervous LP
The repress of their solid "New People Make Us Nervous" album. Previously only available in Europe with very limited distribution in North America. They are doing a 2nd European tour this spring and new album is also in production now. Mining the same updated pop-punk/power-pop/mod-punk vein as SMALLTOWN or current faves (and co-Canucks) TRANZMITORS, with the hint of a less snotty BRIEFS and a literary JAWBREAKER-esque quality to the lyrics. Great stuff, recorded well and with great catchy choruses. Sounds authentic but not retro. Eight songs at 45RPM for max. auditory effect. (Deranged Records #140)

STATUES - Same Bodies, Same Faces 7"
The first DERANGED offering from Sudbury's STATUES, but not the last. For those unaware, this trio has already released two excellent albums and is currently working on a third for later 2008. In the interim, these 4 tracks will need to hold those craving another album's worth of STATUES' infectious power punk. Same bodies, same faces features 3 new exclusive originals and a GG Allin cover of 'Dead or Alive'. Here is the MRR review of their 2nd album -Wow, a welcome new discovery for me. (Deranged Records #118)

STATUES - Terminal Bedroom CD
Since 2004, Sudbury, Ontario's Statues have been smashing together their favorite bits of punk and power pop records into two full length albums (Aux. and New People Make us Nervous) and four 7" EPs. Terminal Bedroom is the CD compilation of the Deranged Records released "Same Bodies, Same Faces" 7" and the "Crooked Fingers, Broken Hands" 2x7" EP set originally released by FDH/P.Trash records and Plastic Idol records respectively. This is pop punk the way it's supposed to sound - chunky, full, free of the wimp and whine, cry-me-a-river-cheese-ball-crap that's been passed off as punk for the last umpteen years. Imagine a more beefy TRANZMITORS, a harder hitting GENTLEMEN JESSE, a poppier EXPLODING HEARTS, and you'll be on the right track. (Deranged Records #119 CD)

STOIC VIOLENCE - Chained LP
The return and final offering from California's STOIC VIOLENCE comes in the form of 8 new songs pressed on the always great 12" 45rpm format, housed in a gatefold jacket featuring some sick art from LA artist Austin Delgadilo. Stoic Violence plays a stripped down, primitive, and spite fueled style of hardcore/punk. Split release with Video Disease. (Deranged Records #247)

SUSPECT PARTS - s/t 7"
Featuring Justin Maurer from the CLOROX GIRLS / RED DONS and Chris Bell from the BRIEFS. While spending time in Europe, both came together and wrote two originals and the cover 'To Stone' by THE TWO CHEQUES (1963, Louisiana). 'Seventeen Television' is the standout track and brings to mind a more anthemic punk version of the CLOROX GIRLS with Justin on both vocals and guitar duties. (Deranged Records #120)

SYSTEMATIK - s/t LP
Raw Hardcore from Vancouver, B.C with a solid D-Beat backbone that doesn't bore you to tears. Searing guitar work and a vocalist that can actually manage to convey his live frustration through recorded media, a rare feat. A distinct sound is hard to pinpoint. Influences range all over the place from Death Side to Poison Idea. Everyone will tell you something different, make your own judgement. Members of Unlearn and Vacant State. After the break-up of Unlearn the guitarist set out to get another project started as soon as possible, actually only within a few days he and Isaiah (vocalist) started working together. After a few months, a few bassists and a few drummers, a solid lineup developed and a demo was recorded in Dec.2011. The LP was recorded in april.2012 in Portland with Stan Wright. (Deranged Records #215)

TEEN CRUD COMBO - Judgement Night... LP
It is with extreme pleasure that I release into our vein and mostly pathetic existence TEEN CRUD COMBO's long lost 12inch masterpiece entitled 'Judgment Night Soundtrack Part 2'. This recording has been sitting idle for over 6 years and is now thankfully available - rejoice! At a time when Toronto had no good bands to speak of, came TEEN CRUD COMBO with their DWARVES, ZEKE, and MOTORHEAD worship to grace Toronto's eager punk and rock souls. Now long broken up, TCC consisted of people who went on to play in RUINATION and BRUTAL KNIGHTS and put on an excellent live show. It didn't take long for TCC to become the best thing Toronto had to offer but for the most part, this new found fame was pretty much limited to Toronto. They did release a 7" on BlackLung records but broke up before really becoming more than just a local phenomenon. This LP features 13 speedy punk songs which includes 4 from the BlackLung 7" and 9 previously unreleased tracks. I have said this many of times, this is one of the best Canadian punk records in many moons. (Deranged Records #71)

TERMINAL STATE - Sick 7"
Not much was heard from TERMINAL STATE in 2006 but 2007 promises to keep fans of their —Your Rules" LP (DERANGED 2005) and their —Panic Attack" 7" (HATE THE 80's) eyes wide open for more with the release of 3 new tracks on this solid piece of wax spewing off their take on snotty 80's hardcore punk. A CD compiling the aforementioned releases is also in the works along with plans to record their first album later this year. For the uninitiated, TERMINAL STATE play early US hardcore and their sound has been described as "absolute top shelf punk rock and an instant classic" (Razorcake #29). These 3 new tracks continue where the band left off without any lame departure in sound; totally ripping hardcore for fans of CAREER SUICIDE and GOVERNMENT WARNING. (Deranged Records #92)

TERMINAL STATE - Your Rules LP
Another great output from Toronto's striving hardcore/punk scene. Terminal State play hardcore the old fashion way without butchering the simple formula that has define a sound that stands the test of time. It's fast, loud and snotty. 8 tracks of DC inspired hardcore. (Deranged Records #67)

TERRIBLE FEELINGS - Backwoods 7"
Someone described the music as "Loud, dark, therapeutic, and rough around the edges" and Anton once said he played "black angst-ridden power pop." Both quotes sum up Terrible Feelings pretty well. Place their sound somewhere in the wastelands between Wipers, Redd Kross, Ebba Grön and Murder City Devils. The band has to date released three 7"s and one full length album. They've embarked on no less than five full European tours and two US tours (one on each coast). They've shared stages with bands such as Jeff the Brotherhood, White Lung, Imperial State Electric, Fucked Up, The Raveonettes, and The Babies; and were handpicked by none other than Refused as support in both Europe and Sweden on their final tour. Musically Terrible Feelings has been described as proto punk, dark power pop and gloomy surf, with a tint of both country and 70s hard rock. All descriptions are correct. It's rock 'n' roll. (Deranged Records #238)

TERRIBLE FEELINGS - Impending Doom 7"
North American pressing of their superb Impending Doom 7". Someone described the music as "Loud, dark, therapeutic, and rough around the edges", and Anton once said he played "black angst-ridden power pop." Both quotes sum up Terrible Feelings pretty well. Doomsday pop with punkrock roots. Place their sound somewhere in the wastelands between Wipers, Masshysteri, Ebba Grön and Murder City Devils. Album and US tour in the works for Spring 2012. (Deranged Records #198)

TERRIBLE FEELINGS - Shadows LP
After infinite discussions concerning aesthetics, lyricism and musical preferences, "Terrible Feelings" was chosen as the most fitting name for this musical outfit, which saw the light of day sometime late summer 2009, in Malmö, Sweden. Whilst the band may have its origins in an eternally blossoming punk scene, Terrible Feelings represents so much more than that. With music and lyrics rooted in 70s devil-worshipping hard rock and 80s spleeny new wave, Terrible Feelings play a sophisticated and gloomy mixture of power pop and punk. MaximumRock 'n' Roll had the following to say about their single "Impending Doom": There is a chance that this may be my new favorite band, which is a bold claim to make from a measly two song record. ... It's difficult to write and produce a two song 45 that people will actually listen to more than a couple times, but this record has me flipping the thing over and over repeatedly because these two songs are both fucking amazing. The music is upbeat and poppy, but the lyrics are about complacency and forgetting about your dreams. This will definitely be one of my favorite records of the year and hopefully there will be enough bleak winter months over there to inspire a full LP. After having been biding time for the majority of 2009 and 2010, the band released not one, but three singles in 2011, on both European and North American shores, to wide critical and public acclaim. The band also completed three European tours that same year, and shared stages with acts such as Jeff the Brotherhood, YussufJerusalem, and Night Birds, and was hand-picked by Fucked Up to open on the Scandinavian leg of their fall tour. The album was recorded at Tambourine Studios in their hometown, in January 2012. Co-producer Erik Sunding spurred them to use more than ten different guitars and amps, a quirky violin bass played over a massive amp from the 70s, old beat up drums, farfisa, hammond, piano and tons of rippling percussion. The outcome is 12 quite different songs, somehow all tied together by a common notion; walking hand in hand towards a bleak future. For those with a weakness for melancholic yet danceable punkrock, this record might just prove to be an essential staple in any collection. A US tour is in the works for the summer, as well as more relentless touring all over Europe. Watch out. (Deranged Records #205)

TOTAL ABUSE - Looking For Love 7"
Total Abuse, the ugly boys from Texas return after a two year hiatus with Looking For Love, a 3 track 7" EP ...Expect dissonant, debased, sleaze filled dirgy hell tunes... You either love them or hate them but you know to expect the filthiest ear shredding hardcore around . Looking For Love is the a search for forgiveness through the trash filled alley ways and underbelly of a seedy Texas city... Cover art by Jamie Fletcher... Back cover and an incredible illustrated 10 page booklet by Matthew Bellosi. mastered by Dan Randall of Mammoth Sounds. (Deranged Records #253)

TOTAL ABUSE - s/t CD (with bonus tracks)
The highly anticipated self-titled album from TOTAL ABUSE is a monster hardcore punk classic plus 15 bonus tracks from their SEX PIG 7" and demo â¤" 27 tracks total of ugly depraved hardcore punk. A recent feature in Skyscraper magazine described the album as follow: 'Total Abuse's pungent blend of eighties thrash, grinding proto-grunge, and waves of both the new and no variety, distills every extreme punk subgenre of the last 30 years into a 25 minute barrage of shearing guitar noise and sonic annihilation. (Deranged Records #128)

TOTAL TRASH - s/t 7"
Young blood from Toronto doing straight forward hardcore. No frills or gimmicks, just well executed angst driven hardcore punk. (Deranged Records #212)

TRANZMITORS - Bigger Houses 7"
This is one of 3 singles from the same recording session to be coming out in early 2006 by Vancouver's super group. Formed in the fall of 2004, the TRANZMITORS are comprised of guitarist Jeffie Genetic (NEW TOWN ANIMALS, SMUGGLERS), bassits Fergus (EMERGENCY, the STRIKE), drummer Bryce Dunn (SMUGGLERS, VINDICATORS, NEW TOWN ANIMALS) and guitarist Nick Thomas (SMUGGLERS, TONICS, BUM). Heavily influenced by the BUZZCOCKS and the UNDERTONES, THE TRANZMITORS play upbeat powerpop punk and do it extremely well. (Deranged Records #77)

TRANZMITORS - Busy Singles LP/CD
New album compiling all tracks from their 4 singles, which are almost all pretty much sold out and out of press and one really excellent bonus track. For those who haven't heard, Vancouver's TRANZMITORS play UK influenced powerpop in the vain of the BOYS, the BUZZCOCKS and the EXPLODING HEARTS. (Deranged Records #123)

TRANZMITORS - CD
Formed in the winter of 2004, The Tranzmitors came together to fill a much overlooked void in the rock & roll scene in Vancouver, BC. Containing ex- and current members of The Smugglers, The New Town Animals and The Parallels, the power pop combo take their musical cues from bands like The Buzzcocks, The Undertones and The Exploding Hearts, have shared stages with The Clorox Girls, The Spits, The Pointed Sticks and Fucked Up among others and have released records that have won over the critics at Terminal Boredom, Razorcake, Exclaim and Maximum Rock & Roll magazines. With the release of their debut album on Deranged Records (licensed in Europe to legendary UK label STIFF RECORDS (CD format only)), The Tranzmitors are hoping that fans will embrace pop once again and be dancing in the front row! (Deranged Records #97 CD)

TRANZMITORS - Some Girls 7"
2 song 7". Split release from Deranged Records and La-Ti-Da Records. (Deranged Records/LaTiDa #003)

TRANZMITORS - s/t 1st LP
(Deranged Records #97)

TRANZMITORS - s/t 2nd LP (4 songs) LP
The return of Vancouver's TRANZMITORS is here is the form of an exploding 4 track EP of powerpop excellence! These new tracks demonstrate an obvious progression from their extremely well-received 2007 album by delivering even catchier, more melodic, and tighter songs than previous releases. This EP includes three original and one fabulous cover of the Moondogs 'Who's Gonna tell Mary'. Superb song writing and killer production make this EP the TRANZMITORS best release to date. Featuring ex- and current members of The Smugglers, The New Town Animals and The Parallels, the power pop combo take their musical cues from bands like The Buzzcocks, The Undertones, the Boys and The Exploding Hearts. (Deranged Records #122)

TRISTESS - Hog & Lag Blues LP
This is TRISTESS 3rd vinyl output and easily their best to date. Actually, I would go as far as saying this is likely one of the top 5 best European records of the last five years, it is just that good. For those unfamiliar, TRISTESS features two members of THE REGULATIONS and E.T.A, and one member from THE VICIOUS and DS-13, and play straight forward punk rock heavily influenced by obscure late 70's Swedish punk rock like THE INCEST BROTHERS, GLO, and KRIMINELLA GITARRER. Never heard of those bands? No worries because what it comes down to is the fact that TRISTESS play superbly catchy mid-tempo punk rock. Though I would not necessarily compare their sound to Denmark's GORILLA ANGREB, they do share some similarities in the sense that they both play punk rock heavily rooted in the first wave of punk, sing in their native language, and both play it extremely well. (Deranged Records #134)

UNITED SUPER VILLAINS € Choke Slammed Back To Life! LP
Another fast thrashing hardcore record from Wisconsin's U.S.V.; you might remember the thrasher they did on Havoc Records. The music is fast and furious but all the weird movie sound bites add a sense of comedy to the approach, but the U.S.V. lyrical content is quite good (even a song telling people to read the god damn lyric sheets!). This is a good record, and I would say anyone that likes D.S.13 or Code 13 is going to like this as well (not that U.S.V. sounds like either of these bands, but the same people that dig those bands will dig U.S.V.). Thrash on! (Deranged Records #5)

UNLEARN - s/t 7"
If you've witnessed this bands live set you already know what to expect. A loud and noisy fury of raw punk levelling everything in their path. Vocals distorted in anguish and a wall of guitars tweaked to ear splitting frequencies held down with an impressive d-beat attack. These guys are definitely into Disclose and Meanwhile. So far they've released 2 demo tapes, which have received several positive reviews. Future releases include a split 7" with KRUEL in june and a self titled LP in September. A 5 week U.S tour is planned for September/October. (Deranged Records #194)

UNLEARN - s/t LP
Posthumous album by Vancouver's noisy raw punks. Follow-up If you've witnessed this bands live set you already know what to expect. A loud and noisy fury of raw punk leveling everything in their path. Vocals distorted in anguish and a wall of guitars tweaked to ear splitting frequencies held down with an impressive d-beat attack. These guys are definitely into Disclose and Meanwhile. (Deranged Records #199)

URBAN BLIGHT - s/t 7"
The first vinyl offering from the beav and his crew - Toronto's Urban Blight blend big breakdown hardcore with fast pissed off hardcore. Simple and effective. Three tracks of stomp and mosh. 12" in the works on Slasher records - booya! (Deranged Records #68)

VACANT STATE - Fill The Void LP
Debut 11 song LP. Early 80's influenced USHC. If you know Vacant State this is what you come to expect, an obvious Boston crew (Last Rights, Negative Fx, SSD) influence along with Negative Approach. With an Oi twist comparable to more current bands like 86 Mentality and Commitment Crew. Artwork By Dry-Rot's Jordan Darby. (Deranged Records #197)

VACANT STATE - Internal Conflict 7"
2nd E.P., 5 songs of early 80's influenced hardcore. With the A side giving a nod to the Boston Crew,(SSD, Negative FX, Last Rights) while the B side coming closer to the B side of My War mixed with Impact Unit. (Deranged Records #144)

VAPID - Practically Dead LP
"Strike while the best served dish is cold," that's what they always say, right? Nearly two years after the Do The Earthquake 7", Vapid prove it with their debut album. Rough and bittersweet, or just plain spiteful, pop songs with a couple steamrollers thrown in for good measure. The Go-Go's ditch the glossy production and record Too Tough To Die. Co-release with Nominal Records. These copies are on black & white marble vinyl. Includes download coupon. (Deranged Records #142)

VICIOUS CYCLE - Pale Blue Dot CD
After a couple 7"s and over a year of silence, VICIOUS CYCLE returns with what might be one of the best hardcore album of the year. The album is entitled PALE BLUE DOT and is an urgent yet explorative album marking a new era for hardcore punk. The album is a blend of traditional 1980's American hardcore and experimental instrumentation. Vicious Cycle bring an unrelenting, innovative and unique sound that represents the dire state of our planet. For fans of Fucked Up, Fugazi, Refused, and forward thinking hardcore. Recorded with Jonah Falco (Fucked Up, Career Suicide) and mixed by Jon Drew. Features vocal appearances by George Pettit (Alexisonfire) and Damian Abraham (Fucked Up). (Deranged Records #149)

VOIGHT-KAMPFF - s/t LP
It is with great pleasure that we offer in collaboration with Rock Bottom Records the debut album by VOIGHT-KAMPFF. These 7 songs were originally released as a limited cassette Voight-Kampff began as Run Down in 2005 when Sulier and Swanson-White came together due to a shared love of darker moodier punk. After both had been in hardcore bands they decided to try something a little weirder. A 2 song 45 was done after passing songs back and forth and was belatedly released in 2012 on Baltimore's Firestarter Records. At this point the songs were already written for their debut full-length and the two decided to make a clean break from RD with a name change and stripped down format which would involve only the two of them for recording purposes. VK has played roughly a show a year since 07 recruiting different friends to flesh out live line-ups including Doom Town's Ashley Hohman and Tom Valli, Bryan Clarkson and Shaun Morrissey from The Humanoids, Matty Coonfield of Bug Chaser and Tone Rodent, Phil Schwarz of Rock Bottom Records, Ted Howard of the 86'ed, and Brad Stiffler of Condominium. The duo is currently at work writing for their second LP and has plans to finally tour and increase their activities. (Deranged Records #235)

VIOLENT ARREST - CD
New CD compilation featuring 12 tracks from their 12", 10 new tracks from their upcoming 7" (both on Deranged), and 3 bonus tracks not available anywhere else. Featuring three quarters of the former members of the U.K.'s original hardcore blasters RIPCORD and HERESY, VIOLENT ARREST burst forth with straight forward 80's hardcore by way of Boston (Jerry's Kids and SSD), rippling with the same urgency and controlled rage that brought about the original notoriety of these west coast thrashers. (Deranged Records #110)

VIOLENT ARREST - LP
Twenty years later and they're still at it! Featuring three quarters of the former members of the U.K.'s original hardcore blasters RIPCORD, VIOLENT ARREST burst forth with twelve brand new rippers, rippling with the same urgency and controlled rage that brought about the original notoriety of these west coast thrashers. Former RIPCORD and SPITE vocalist Steve barks his usual socially aware lyrics, former RIPCORD, HERESY and CAN'T DECIDE guitarist Steve 'Baz' Ballam chops his Boston hardcore influenced guitar, former EXCREMENT OF WAR vocalist Leigh brings subtle D-Beat tones to the bass, and former RIPCORD, CAN'T DECIDE and SPITE drummer John cuts a precise thrash behind the kit. The outcome is a razor sharp hardcore assault harkening back to their eighties roots, clocking in at around a minute a song along with a cover of JERRY'S KIDS' 'This Is Boston Not L.A.' contribution 'Wired', that along with their name, stands as a glaring example of their influence, VIOLENT ARREST pick the baton up right where they left their classic hardcore lineage! (Deranged Records #83)

VIOLENT ARREST - s/t 7"
New 7" features 10 new tracks of Boston worshiping hardcore from three quarters of the former members of the U.K.'s original hardcore blasters RIPCORD and HERESY. (Deranged Records #109)

VIOLENT MINDS - Just Kicked In 7"
Four new tracks recorded in 2006 and features a more MOTORHEAD inspired VIOLENT MINDS. Straight forward hardcore stripped of polish - just raw distorted hardcore delivered at high velocity. Fans of DISCHARGE, MOTORHEAD and early American hardcore like NEGATIVE APPROACH take notice. (Deranged Records #101)

VIOLENT MINDS - s/t 7"
Once again in press! VIOLENT MINDS' debut self titled 7" originally pressed on the now defunct MY WAR records over 3 years ago. When SHARK ATTACK started to self destruct, Zach moved to Toronto and along with NO WARNING friends, Ben Cook and Matt Delong, recorded the 8 hardcore gems which can be found on this top notch 7". While VM has moved to a more DISCHARGE/MOTORHEAD sound in recent years, this 7" features VM at their earliest phase when the NEGATIVE APPROACH and SSD influences were most obvious and who's to complain - they did it extremely well. This is blistering fast and mean hardcore. (Deranged Records #102)

VIOLENT MINDS - We Are Nothing CD
Twelve new tracks from VIOLENT MINDS compiling their recent "We Are Nothing" 12" and "Just Kicked In" 7" (both on Deranged) on one CD album. First off, eight tracks from their "We Are Nothing" 12", recorded by Zach (ex-SHARKATTACK) and Justin from MINDERASER on drums over a year and a half ago and features some of VIOLENT MINDS fastest tracks to date. Straight forward hardcore stripped of polish - just raw distorted hardcore delivered at high velocity. Second, four new tracks from their "Just Kick In" 7" recorded in 2006 and features a more MOTORHEAD inspired VIOLENT MINDS. Plague by countless setbacks in the last two years, VIOLENT MINDS are now back. Fans of DISCHARGE, MOTORHEAD and early American hardcore like NEGATIVE APPROACH take notice. (Deranged Records #104 CD)

VIOLENT MINDS - We Are Nothing LP
Recorded by Zach (ex-SHARKATTACK) and Justin from MINDERASER on drums over a year and a half ago and features some of VIOLENT MINDS fastest tracks to date. Straight forward fierce hardcore stripped of polish - just raw distorted hardcore delivered at high velocity. Fans of DISCHARGE, MOTORHEAD and early American hardcore like NEGATIVE APPROACH take notice. (Deranged Records #103)

WASTOIDS - s/t 7"
Bottle chucking youth-punk from Toronto, Ontario; Wastoids rip an early 80s Boston vibe with an Oi! influenced stomp. The culturally sanitized wasteland of the west end of their city breeds boredom and socially fucked mutants who puke in your venues and ruin scenes. (Deranged Records #231)

WHITE LUNG - Blow It South 7"
Two new songs from Vancouver's WHITE LUNG continue where SORRY left off. Honing on their unrelenting post punk formula, WL returns with a clear confidence that they can write great songs and plan on delivering on the goods. Featured as best new song on both Pitchfork and Stereogum, these songs are some of their best. The band has been busy in 2013 but expect them to be everywhere starting early next year. (Deranged Records #241)

WHITE LUNG - It's The Evil CD
After 3 critically acclaimed 7"s (two of which on DERANGED) and a slight line up change, Vancouver's WHITE LUNG deliver one fantastic debut album. Mix the punk venom of some of the more notorious riot grrrl bands of the 90's with the guitar noodling and tempo of UK post punk by way of John Reis and you get something pretty close to WHITE LUNG. (Deranged Records #172/#174)

WHITE LUNG - Sorry CD
High-energy manic punks, White Lung, are back with their sophomore release, Sorry. Their 2010 debut It's the Evil earned them the title as the primary ambassadors for Canada's emergent punk scene receiving critical acclaim from CHARTAttack to Maximum Rock n' Roll to Terminal Boredom and their follow-up does not disappoint. McCorkell's signature driving, off-kilter riffage paired with Way's snarling and aggressive yet melodic vocals and the hard-hitting rhythmic duo of Grady Mackintosh on bass and Anne-Marie Vassilou on drums amp up White Lung's position from ambassadors to the queens (and king) of Canandian noise rock. Bowing to the inevitable need for comparison, according to Vice Magazine, "White Lung combine the feral energy of the Germs with the taut, wiry dynamics of the Wipers and have released a string of singles that keep improving in a bewilderingly exponential fashion." Also present in their sound are golden era Kurt and Courtney, The Bags, and Rocket from the Crypt. This wealth of influences doesn't mean the band's sound is hard to pin-down. Written and recorded nearly simultaneously, Sorry manages to be both raw and complex, thanks to White Lung's focus on cohesive writing. Sorry may have been stressful to record, but it's a joy to listen to. It signals a new era for White Lung, featuring denser more melodic songs that maintain the rough edge of their punk pedigree. (Deranged Records #209)

WHITE LUNG - Two Of You 7"
Hailing from Vancouver, B.C., high-energy punks White Lung pull references from every era of punk remaining unforgiving yet melodic. Their debut LP It's the Evil (Deranged) was named Punk Album Of The Year by Exclaim! and their sophomore LP Sorry (Deranged) has managed to top the last.Spawned from East Vancouver's dirty DIY Emergency Room scene, White Lung formed in 2006 with guitarist Kenneth joining in 2009. From the beginning they were road warriors, touring regularly, even contemplating selling their underwear just to get on the road (they eventually opted for the more practical route of saving up funds.) White Lung broke out of their incestuous local scene and brought their music across Canada and the US. They continue to tour fanatically, their live shows have been called, "effortlessly engaging and enigmatic, harnessing a controlled violence that managed to be passionate without going the least bit over-the-top" by Exclaim! Magazine. (Deranged Records #230)

WILD CHILD - s/t 7"
Best demo I heard in 2011 and here we finally have their debut record. For those who heard the demo (Fashionable Idiots just released the demo on vinyl), this is more of the same chaotic hardcore. A more snarly DEEP WOUND? Excellent. (Deranged Records #218)

WOLFBRIGADE - Comalive CD
The 5th album from the Scandinavian hardcore steamroller with 14 new tracks of down tuned crustcore blasts. Their strongest studio recording since the excellent "ALL DAY HELL", 'COMALIVE" finds the band in peak form blending obvious elements of POISON IDEA, MOTORHEAD, DISCHARGE, and death metal. Formed as Wolfpack in 1995 by members of Anti Cimex(Swedish Hardcore), Obscure Infinity(Death Metal) and Harlequin(Melodic folk punk). The result was a mix of all style but with its main direction towards hardcore/crust. This lineup released 2 albums and a bunch of EPs including a split 7" with SKITSYSTEM until a new singer was found in 1999 and another album was done. After this the band decided to change their name to Wolfbrigade and has since then changed drummer in 2002, bassplayer in 2004, been in hiatus between 2004-2006 and released another 3 albums and a bunch of EPs. COMALIVE is WOLFBRIGADE's 2nd album since their hiatus some years ago and proves that the Lychantro punks are back on top swinging with more touring in 2009. (Deranged Records #137)

YOUNG OFFENDERS - Leader of the Followers LP
For fans of: Alopecia, wishing every spin of the came with a freshly-pulled pint, Mission Of Burma, Blitz, Futureheads, international diplomacy, 4/4 beats, The Chords, John Peel's sense of adventure, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Airfix Kits. It's a Catch 22. Those young enough to make music in their free time rarely have any unique life experiences to sing about. Those with the battle scars and broken bones put down their instruments and capitulate to "real life." The Young Offenders' guitarist Jason recently asked: "When you get to a certain age and you're a creative person, you're like, 'How can I make a fuckin' living and still not hate myself?'" San Francisco's Young Offenders' answer comes in the form of their first record that's not a split LP or a 7", inside of eight tightly-knit, dancey, not-scene-or-subgenre-specific songs. You like a little bit of melody in your punk? You like sexy bald brains? You like songs with definite parts, weight of thought, sharp edges, and punch? You like cohesion, the feeling of "Fuck yeah. This is an album. (Deranged Records #175)

YOUNG OFFENDERS - Saints 7"
Two new tracks from San Francisco's YOUNG OFFENDERS. Their recent 7" on Parts Unknown was not only very well received by various magazines but also made numerous Maximum Rock N Roll staff picks for TOP TEN records of 2007. This new single offers two more tracks of well executed post-punk and power pop blend with loads of hooks and power - this band should be huge! Think the Adverts, early Gang of Four and Really Red. (Deranged Records #121)

YOUTH AVOIDERS - s/t LP
After a very well received EP and two US tours, YOUTH AVOIDERS return with their first full length album. For fans of hardcore punk, this will be without a doubt, the best hardcore punk record to come from France in a LONG time. Part hardcore reminiscent of Career Suicide's punchy delivery and part punk with a frantic guitar work that brings to mind Royal Headache. Loads of catchy hooks delivered at high velocity makes this a real stand out record. (Deranged Records #234)
