Release Discriptions:

HAYMAKER - Lost Tribe 7"
Their 3rd 7" which was never really meant to see the light of day as it was originally recorded as a demo in preparation for their 2nd album which is still in progress two years later. Members of Chokehold, Left For Dead, and Swarm. This 7" features 6 new tracks which were recorded during the same session as the track found on the impossible to find Town of Hardcore 7" comp. It's a rougher sounding recording than their first album but the same old Haymaker - mean and heavy. This is a split release with Bored to Death Records and limited to 1000 copies. (Deranged #65)

THE OBSERVERS - Lead Pill 7"
This is the repress of the first Observers 7" called Lead Pill which was originally released on Super Secret Records (500 made) last year. Tracks include: "Lead Pill," "Can't Be Sad," "Short Day," "Normally Normal." Their album on Vinyl Warning made the majority of the top ten best albums of 2004 in MRR and for obvious reasons, this band is incredible. Here is what MRR had to say: "I'm sure everyone who's heard this LP has a completely different interpretation of who and what they sound like, but I guarantee you that we all agree on one thing: what we have here is something very special. To say that I believe that this is one of the best punk records ever to be recorded is not overstepping the mark. Any band that can inject the sharp poke-in-the-eye brashness of WIRE, the driving melody-with-a-twist of the Adverts, the heavy atmosphere of The Fits (to a lesser extent), The False Prophets, and even add some of the brooding twang of The Wipers, while still sounding original deserves every friggen accolade you can throw at them. If you went completely gaga over No Hope For The Kids then this will tickle you absolutely silly. Album of the year. Unless a certain band from Denmark makes the deadline, I can't see anything knocking this off. I send my love to Portland for yet another punk rock treasure." (Deranged Records #64)

SMALLTOWN - The Music LP/CD
Finally, the first Smalltown full length - 'The Music' continues where the 'Years, Months' 7" left off. More of the same great melodic mod influenced punk - ultra catchy, anthemic songs with raw tuneful vocals and teeth clenching riffs. Think the Strike and Stiff Little Fingers. Their last single was hailed as "one of the best disc of the decade" in MRR - I'm not going to argue - this band should be huge, this record might just do it... 12 brilliant tracks which are bound to grab a whole lot of attention. (Deranged #62)

HAMMER - LP (Japense Text)
Released domestically in Japan by Discrete Records as a CD in 2001, this material is now available for the first time on vinyl on Deranged records. This is a limited pressing to support the band on their USA tour with Signal Lost (ex-Deathreat on Prank records). Seven tracks of blazing Japanese hardcore ala Gauze. It's all here - speed, energy and that classic burning spirit sound. Hammer also have two 7"s (Deranged and UglyPop) out now and an LP in the works later this year on Deranged. (Deranged #60)

CAREER SUICIDE - 2001 to 2003 CD
A Compilation of now hard to find releases (either sold out or out of press) of one of North America's best snotty hardcore punk bands. These releases made the large majority of MRR's top ten releases of 2003 and have all been receiving raving releases. Simon from Ugly Pop described their sound best as "a mix of old school North American hardcore and snot-nosed KBD-style punk with a hefty dash of '82 velocity". This is the first time this material is available on CD, and it features a top notch mastering job and a great booklet. New LP on Deranged in the works as well as a 7" on Feral Ward. 44 tracks (plus a couple bonus unreleased tracks) from the Sars 7", Self-Titled 7", Self-Titled LP, first demo, and second demo. (Deranged #54)

DEAD STOP - Done With You LP / CD
Now also available on LP! Absolutely fierce, in your face hardcore reminiscent of early Agnostic Front, Negative Approach and even a little Cro Mags. Sure how often does a band get compared to the above and how often are you disappointed? Well not this time! This is no bullshit fast hardcore punk at its best; catchy tunes, powerful vocals and top notch production. Deadstop have a good 7" on Wolfpack/Reflex records (who re-issued the vinyl for Poison Idea, F.U.'s, Jerry's Kids etc...) But these earlier recording simply does not do them justice and does not compare to the greatness of this LP/CD. (Deranged Records #058)

CAREER SUICIDE/JED WHITEY - split 12"
Finally out. Career Suicide, Toronto's snotty fucks, are back with some of their best material to date. Eight new tracks of good old fashion garage infused hardcore punk ala Germs, Angry Samoans and the F.U.'s. A little more mature and produced then previous releases but same old classic sound. On the b-side, Australia's own Jed Whitey deliver 5 new rnr punk tracks including one of their best tracks to date - "Kill Radio". Look for new releases by Jed Whitey on Manicride Records and repress of Career Suicide's first 7" on Deranged later this summer. (Deranged Youth #55)

SMALLTOWN - The First Three Years CD
This CD compiles all of Smalltown's previous vinyl-only releases plus one unreleased track. This is melodic punk at its best. They've been compared to the likes of Stiff Little Fingers, the Strike, the Jam and Leatherface. Sure a lot of bands have tried this formula but few are those who've mastered and managed to make an impression - Smalltown has. From a little town in Sweden, Smalltown offers a fresh take on melodic punk. They have an LP on the way, top ten record of the year in MRR and amazing reviews in both MRR and Razorcake and a small US tour being discussed. Not exportable to Japan. (Deranged #56)

FUCKED UP - Epics In Minutes CD
For those unfamiliar with the band, they have 5 singles out already, a split 7" with Haymaker on the way, along with a full length in the not so distant future. They are from Toronto, Canada and they feature Jonah from Career Suicide and Mike from Ruination. They are going on a short tour of the USA in late march along side Punch In The Face and Fourteen Or fight. A good number of the tracks found on the CD have appeared on vinyl in one shape or another but this CD features a number of previously unreleased mixes, demo tracks and part of a radio set. The whole project was re-mastered by Jon Drew who was responsible for making the Police 7" so damn devastating in the first place. (Deranged #53 CD)

FUCKED UP - Dance of Death 7"
Their 5th official 7". "Dance of Death" is their most recent studio recording which includes another two smoking tracks of melodic rock-tuned hardcore punk. Following in the path of their 3rd EP ("Baiting The Public"), "Dance of Death" keeps the same mid-tempo pace and solid guitar driven song structures accompanied with burly vocals ala Jerry A/Poison Idea. The title track features guest vocals by Ben Cook from No Warning, and Violent Minds. (Deranged #52)

SMALLTOWN - Years, Months 7"
Deranged is proud to have this three piece Swedish outfit join the roster. With two solid 7"s under their belt, but still little exposure in North America, this 7" should turn a few heads. They've been compared to the likes of Still Little Fingers and Newtown Neurotics and that's probably as good a comparison as it gets. Tuneful and melodic punk rock with slightly rasapy vocals. They are working on a full length now. (Deranged #51)

HAMMER - Raw Tracks 2000 7"
Fantastic Japanese hardcore band following in the footsteps of the almighty Gauze and doing a great job too. Four tracks which were originally recorded for various domestic compilations. Tight, speedy, well directed music and all around great delivery; this should please the purists of this genre. They also have a 7" on Ugly Pop coming out soon, and they are currently working on a 12" for Deranged. (Deranged #50)

CAREER SUICIDE - Sars 7"
The Sars 7" is the second 7" from Career Suicide. After a bleak spring in quarantine, these guys decided to pick up their gear and get some tracks on wax, and the result is nothing short of greatness. Yet another great local band making their mark in Canadian punk history. Four new tracks of snotty pissed hardcore punk. They've been rightfully compared to Boston's FU's, Angry Samoans, and early Dischord titles. Features Jonah from Fucked Up on Guitar. A CD format now in the works which will include their soon to be released and ever-so delayed LP, both 7"s and demo tracks. (Deranged Youth #47)

THE STAKEOUT - On The Run LP/CD
Hailing from Finland, these 5 gents play nothing but good old fashion '80s inspired US hardcore comparable to the likes of Jerry's Kids and some have said Minor Threat but I would stick with the Boston influences personally. If anything, this record reminds me of the first DS-13 7" - fast, furious, loud and damn solid. Did I mention this band features two dudes from the legendary Selfish - pro fuc.ken bono! They have a 7", a split 7" and a split LP (on Six Weeks Records) already out but this is their best and strongest recording to date. (Deranged #46)

FUCKED UP - Baiting The Public 7"
Their best song to date and another potential classic in the making. Fantastic musicianship and insane lyrics to boot. A fresh combination of catchy, powerful mid-tempo stomp and driving rhythms similar to the Adolescents or Germs. They are working on an LP now. (Deranged Youth #43)

D.S.B. - No Fight No Get 7"
Finally the repress from this Japanese classic. Previously on Devour in '96, it's been a while since this has been in press. This is their first vinyl release and believed by most to be their best. Four top notch Japanese hardcore punk tracks. (Deranged #38)

LEATHERFACE - Discography Part 2: Rare & Unreleased LP
After countless delays, this gem is now available. This full length includes a combination of rare out of print tracks from old 7" EPs and unreleased mixes such as an acoustic version of "In My Life." This was originally pressed on Rejected records over 8 years ago and is once again available on vinyl with a different cover. The first 1,000 come with a 4 song bonus live 7". Yes this is the Legendary English punk band Leatherface who are responsible for one of the best punk albums of all time: Mush. With the band's recent reunion and US tour in '99, a split LP with Hot Water Music and their first studio album in seven years Horsebox (BYO records), these veterans continue to amaze - both live and on recording. Their sound is a unique cross between Husker Du and Motorhead - distorted guitars, gritty vocals, and catchy melodies mixed with break-neck tempos. (Deranged #36)

HAYMAKER - Fuck America 7"
Finally repressed. The first press was limited to 500 copies and mostly went to mail order. More of the same powerful ugly blows to the face. Still comparable to Infest and Left For Dead. Four new rippers and an Anthrax cover. Repress of 1000 on colored red vinyl. (Deranged #34)

HOLIER THAN THOU? - High On Barbecue LP (one sided)
This one side 12" is the newest installment of skate-rock crossover from Oxnard, California's own geniuses, Holier than Thou?. After a great 7" EP and LP on Six Weeks Records, High On Barbecue follows in the same steps with mental vocals, speed metal/crossover riffs and all around well feed aggressive hardcore. Total early RKL and Accused worship. The 12" includes five new tracks as well as a Motorhead cover. Touring Europe this summer. (Deranged Youth #42)

HOLIER THAN THOU? - Riviera Sessions CD
Riviera Sessions includes the one sided High On Barbecue LP as well as three tracks from their upcoming European 7". This CD features the newest installment of skate-rock crossover from Oxnard, California's own geniuses, Holier than Thou?. After a great 7" EP and LP on Six Weeks Records, Riviera Sessions follows in the same steps with mental vocals, speed metal/crossover riffs and all around well feed aggressive hardcore. Total early RKL and Accused worship. Holier Than Thou? will be touring Europe this summer. (Deranged Youth #42)

FUCKED UP - Police 7"
Their second and best 7" which includes their song 'Police." This record only reaffirms the superb song writing and delivery abilities of this young Canadian band. Catchy, powerful straight forward, yet melodic hardcore punk. A fresh combination of mid-tempo growling vocals ala Negative Approach and driving rhythm like Adolescents/Germs. A full-length now in the works. (Deranged #33)

RAMMER - 7" (sold out)
Featuring their best two tracks from their 2nd demo ("Monstroyer" and "Black Between The Stars", Rammer play superbly executed thrash metal comparable to At The Gates - slaughter of the soul era. Amazing musicianship, sick throaty vocals and top notch production. Beautifully packaged in a Japanese theme similar to some of the old layouts by Canadian Metal label Banzai. The new line up for this Toronto based band features ex-members of the legendary Uranus, Chokehold and Left For Dead. Limited to 500 copies. A new 12" is now in the works. (Deranged #35)

CRUDE - Immortality LP/CD
Crude's 4th full length. Immortality compiles the band's best songs to date (chosen by the band from past releases) on one monster release and confidently establishes this band as one of the top traditional Japanese hardcore bands of the past decade. This is pure "Burning Spirit" hardcore at its best. Top notch musicianship (tight, fast, well constructed and catchy as hell) and perfectly delivered vocals makes this a sure pleasure for anyone craving blazing solid Japanese hardcore. Fans of Warhead, Forward, Bastard, Gauze and other such classic outfits should take note. (Deranged #32)

DEMON SYSTEM 13 - No One Will Thank You... CD
This new Demon System 13 CD is a collection of previously released songs from the Aborted Teen Generation 7", For The Kids... 7", Jag Hatar Soldater 7", all the various compilation tracks that DS13 have done, a live set from their first US tour, as well as some unreleased songs. Thirty-nine songs in total as well as an entire live set. (Deranged #40)

DUMBSTRUCK - If It Ain't Broke... 7"
Seven new songs from England's Dumbstruck. Five are originals, and two are cover tracks; "Break The Chains" by Deathwish, and "Pure Hate" by Poison Idea. All seven songs were recorded prior to the LP that was released on 625 Productions. Dumbstruck is ex-Ripcord, and these songs are great brutal ditties that hark back to the powerful songs that Ripcord was thrashing out in the early '90s. The vocal work is much better on this 7" than on the LP, and all in all these songs are better than the LP's material. (Deranged Records #29)

FUCKED UP - No Pasaran 7"
Two songs of harsh melodic punk from this new Canadian hardcore band out of Toronto. The songs are full of anger, melody, and content. Fucked Up are off to a great start with this 7" and hopefully this won't be their last release; spirited and enjoyable. Fucked Up features one member of Ruination and they offer up two tracks on this 7". (Deranged Records #30)

E.T.A. - We Are The Attack 7"
Another eight songs from one of Sweden's crazed skate thrash hardcore bands. E.T.A. put together a high energy thrash attack that can be described as a combination of early '80s US hardcore and Scandinavian thrash. E.T.A. shares one member with DS13 and they do a cover of "Dicks Hate The Police" by the Dicks. Thrash, thrash, thrash!! (Deranged Records #31)

HAYMAKER - It Only Gets Worse LP or CD
Featuring a full color cover by Pushead, It Only Gets Worse offers up twenty-four tracks of tough guy hardcore from the masters of bad attitude. Like a cornered rat Haymaker are set to fight to the death. Prepare to be bludgeoned by angry, bitter, and hateful songs that have no finesse, no hidden agenda, no subtleties, and no mercy. Just pure ugly and hateful hardcore. (Deranged Records #20)

OUR WAR - If You're Not Now... CD or 10"
Featuring ex-members of Chokehold, Left for Dead, Swarm and Haymaker, Our War come at you with some pissed off straight edge hardcore from the frozen wastelands of Canada. They are angry, let down, and ready to explode. Songs about staying true, fallen friends, failed promises, and hardcore pride set to a rumble of brutal hardcore and screaming vocals. Straight edge, straight edge, straight edge. Did I mention that Our War are straight edge? Pissed and powerful. Available on both 10" and CD. (Deranged Records #24)

HACKSAW - Turned Up Turned Down CD or LP
Nine more ditties from Hacksaw. This time around they have pretty much forgotten their early Swiz roots and instead they just go straight up rockin' hardcore. A lot like their last CD and split 7". Rockin' out and having a high energy good time. This is available on CD and LP. (Deranged #23)

OUT COLD - Will Attack If Provoked LP
Fourteen tracks of hard hitting '80s style Boston hardcore. Out Cold has been around for a long time now, and they have continually released powerful hardcore. This new LP is as good, if not better than any of their previous releases. Another great hardcore release from Deranged. (Deranged #19)

INTENSITY - The Ruins of Our Future LP
Powerful and hard hitting thrashcore from this seasoned hardcore outfit. The lyrics are political and the music is fast and furious with plenty of style. Fifteen original tracks as well as a cover of Citizens Arrest's "In The Distance." Awesome hardcore. (Deranged #18)

E.T.A. - No Faith LP or CD
More negative and brutal thrash from Epileptic Terror Attack. Thirteen blistering spastic thrashers about skateboarding, hating the world, and not giving a fuck. They do a Circle Jerks cover and they love early '80s hardcore. Recorded during the same session as the songs on their split with Tear It Up. (Dead Alive #12)

HIGHSCORE - New Fuel LP
Musically, Highscore are playing high energy youth crew style hardcore, comparable to Uniform Choice. Loud, powerful vocals screamed over fast straight ahead hardcore with some chorus parts just to keep you involved is what Highscore does best. Their lyrics are all pro-hardcore and anti-rock star. Down to earth and just rockin' as best they can with no regrets. Solid and totally energetic. (Deranged #16)

NK 6 - Keep On Keeping On LP or CD
Hailing from Japan, NK 6 dish out nine blasts of hard hitting hardcore. The style is pretty classic Japanese thrash with a bit of melody and a crazed approach (would you expect anything less?!). Produced by Fugu of Gauze fame. (Deranged #15)

LAST IN LINE - Crosswalk 7"
These seven songs were recorded before the Last In Line LP, but the original pressing has been sold out for some time now, so Deranged decided to re-press it. Fast and furious, Last In Line play some thrashy Boston style hardcore (actually they sound like a total Negative Approach knock off on this 7"); more primitive and raw than their LP, these songs will rip you a new asshole. Originally pressed on Use Your Head Records. (Deranged #13)

EXCLAIM - Keep Things Evolving Positively 7" (sold out)
Ten blazing crazies from Japan's Exclaim. They thrash, thrash, thrash, and then they thrash some more. They end it all off with a fast Minor Threat cover. Fast and furious Japanese thrashcore that is sure to destroy your inner ear! Get up and go, get up and go, get up and go!!! (Deranged #14)

OUT COLD/VOORHEES - split LP
Both of these bands have been around for a long time, and it is only fitting that they finally appear together on one LP. It is a perfect match since both bands play '80s style hardcore with a vengeance. Out Cold do five tracks and Voorhees offer up six more tracks. Straightforward and hard hitting hardcore as it was played before the days of metal and emo. (Deranged #11)

TEAR IT UP - The First Four Months CD (sold out)
From the ashes of Dead Nation comes Tear It Up. This CDincludes the Just Can't Stand It LP, the 7" they released on Havoc Records, plus a few extra songs as well. Like all of their records the material is quiet good, with lots of anger, energy, and speed, all of which is built on a foundation of solid song writing and the occasional inclusion of a catchy melody. Damn good. (Deranged Records #8 CD)

HAYMAKER - Love The Music, Hate The Kids!!! 7"
Twelve blasts of angry hardcore from this Canadian six piece. Songs about skating, hating your job, and some random bursts of hate, along with a pro guns song called "Guns Don't Kill Guns." Angry and hateful and pissed the fuck off. Totally influenced by Infest. (Deranged Records #9)

TEAR IT UP - Just Can't Stand It LP
From the ashes of Dead Nation comes Tear It Up. I believe that the twelve tracks from this 12" were recorded before the tracks on the Tear It Up 7", and one of the songs, "Battle Scarred," was actually a Dead Nation song that appears on the last Dead Nation 7". The Tear It Up stuff is quiet good, with lots of anger, energy, and speed, all of which is built on a foundation of solid song writing and the occassional inclussion of a catchy melody. Damn good. (Deranged Records #8)

UNITED SUPER VILLAINS - Choke Slammed Back To Life! LP
Another fast thrashing hardcore record from Wisconsin's U.S.V.; you might remember the thrasher they did on Havoc Records. The music is fast and furious but all the weird movie sound bites add a sense of comedy to the approach, but the U.S.V. lyrical content is quite good (even a song telling people to read the god damn lyric sheets!). This is a good record, and I would say anyone that likes D.S.13 or Code 13 is going to like this as well (not that U.S.V. sounds like either of these bands, but the same people that dig those bands will dig U.S.V.). Thrash on! (Deranged Records #5)

DEMON SYSTEM 13 - Vad Vet Vi Om Kriget? LP
Sweden's DS-13 have finally released a full length of 27 tracks of raging hardcore that is influenced by early '80s sounding American hardcore and Swedish thrash. The end result is a sound that is blazing with anger, fury, and speed. Energetic and raw, yet also catchy. This time around they do covers by Refused and Negative Approach. Great music combined with pissed off lyrics. (Deranged Records #4)

COUNTDOWN TO OBLIVION - Brain Surgery For Beginners 7"
Canada's Countdown To Oblivion has risen from the ashes of The Swarm, Left For Dead, and One Blood to offer up four powerful, savage, and political hardcore songs. Great music, lyrics and design. Definitely hardcore for the hardcore. (Deranged Records #3)
