Release Discriptions:

SAFE INSIDE - 7"
Safe Inside deliver 14 tracks of raw punk/hardcore on this, their debut 72. They have sworn a blood oath to keep each song under one minute... Total fury, unleashed. A clean production drives the chaotic sound. Speed from start to finish. Features ex members of As I lay Dying and Built to Last. Cover artwork by Mike Sutfin of the Killers. Pressing limited to 1000 copies. (Black Matter #3)

THE KILLERS - picture disc 7"
This is the final chapter in the Manual for Self Destruction and The Killers discography. We're not talking about the wankers across the Atlantic but the hardcore fucking Killers. They deliver three tracks of rage fueled hardcore, that will surely have you screaming along. The first track "Sown" starts off with a keyboard intro that builds up to the the chaos we know as The Killers. Classic tempo shifts with screaming vocals trading off. The production on this record is top notch and reflects a matured sound. Welcome to self destruction. Limited to 1,000 copies. Full color cover and picture disc art work by Mike Sutfin. The Killers feature ex-members of legendary Chicago hardcore band Charles Bronson. (Hater of God #24)

THE ASSAILANT - S/T CD
The Assailant bring the highly frenetic song structures of Crom Tech, The Assistant, the Dillinger Escape Plan and the full-on cacophonous pounding of The Locust, while never losing what unique character and energy is built early on in the listen. Our hands are left full; never with the instinct to shake loose what random, cold technicality is strewn around one in cases where bands are more concerned with the analytical and less with the urgency (needed at the foundation, on which to build something this erratic- albeit strong and energizing). (Black Matter #2 CD)

KARST - Vision Of Insane Hope CD
Savannah, Georgia's Karst has let out something frightening, eruptive and important with this, their first full length release. Musically and aesthetically, they contribute something of a supremely interesting and commanding character. Melding doom, metal and a rare, dark hardcore, there is an overwhelming sense that this entire record was produced, alternately, through gritted teeth and eyes rolled to the back of the head; whites fully exposed. Having expanded her range since the early/mid-90s (the era of Pushead favorites- Damad) frontwoman, Victoria's droning bellow grows and shifts shape into a horrifyingly fierce and pained screech as these dense, horror songs build and evolve, menacingly. Scott (ex-Antischism/Initial State) demonstrates exceptional drumming that avoids all the trappings of the genre. Where many would abuse double bass and pound mercilessly and unmusically, he somehow incorporates sensitive hi hat and cymbal work and involved playing that contrasts- never compromises or lightens- the weight of the collective output. The results are convincing and finger-curling; frenetic, while terse; fierce and pained, while righteous and satisfying. Prepare. (Hater of God #23 CD)

THE SCARLET LETTER - How Is Your Heart? CD
Two 7"s, three split 7"s and several comp tracks later, The Scarlet Letter finally releases a full length. The first release on Black Matter (the newly divided hardcore punk half of Hater of God Records) this 25 song CD (the LP will be released on Lights Out Records out of Sweden) is more diverse than anything they have released and may challenge stale hardcore purists. The incorporation of relentlessly fast and tight hardcore, double-bass, and [no lack of] screaming and growling will get thrashers going, while the somehow naturally flowing melodic aspects of what comes from this band appeal to what so many stifle. Their musicianship has further developed, as has their ability to lyrically articulate battle cries and furious laments. The variety of emotions expressed make this release feel complete, well-rounded and honest. These are the strongest songs they've put out and are heard through their best recording yet. A [perhaps] deceptively pretty layout (borne of all original artwork) brings their willingness to create without apology further to the surface. (Hater of God/Black Mass #1)

MONSTER X - Indoctrination Complete Discography CD
In the works since their last show in July of 1999, this 45 track/70 minute CD documents Monster X from birth 'til death. 1993-1998 aren't universally recognized as crucial years in hardcore, in terms of invention and innovation, though there certainly were a handful of brilliant bands that peaked during that era. Also worth noting for these purposes is that there existed no small number of bands that rose to prominence through the dissemination of conservative ideas disguised as rebellious outcries and through militant posturing that appealed to jock-like herds of straight edge kids the world over. Monster X were important for their unbelievably devastating sound, but as noteworthy for their intelligence and for the well-deserved punch in the throat they gave to the [arguably] stagnant straight edge scene of the time. Highly regarded, appreciated and, in some circles, beloved by youth crew, metal, grind, and crust kids alike, they drew some of the most diverse crowds in hardcore history. A pro-choice, dependence/religion-free grind band with hardcore song structures, who put out a covers 7" with brutal versions of Bold, Uniform Choice, No For An Answer, Chain of Strength, etc... classics, splits with the now legendary west coast thrashers Spazz and Capitalist Casualties and w/French Canadian grinders Human Greed, and two of their own overwhelmingly heavy/relentlessly fast and lyrically progressive 7"s, as well as comp tracks... Monster X never promoted straight edge as anything but positive and liberating. With every sharp and handwritten lyric, guitar dive bomb, ominously distorted bass intro, frightening vocal threat, and tight blast beat, their lasting impact can be felt on this posthumous release. (Hater of God #22)

KARST - Receive The Void CDep
For those that didn't get a chance at the 7", here it is in CD format, along with a bonus track, expanded packaging, and more of Victoria's unique artwork. Damad evolved; vocals are not at all for the weak of heart. Track listing ; 1) Lambs of Rot 2) Circle of Ground 3) Self Struck + Bonus hidden track. Featuring Vicotria from Damad on vocals (Hater of God #16)

THE SCARLET LETTER - Scattered, Smothered, and Covered CD
An assembly of the band's first 24 released songs, this CD gathers re-mastered tracks from their 7", split with The Assistant & Let It Burn, and four comp tracks, including a cover of new wave stepchildren Dramarama's "Anything, Anything." All material was recorded from 2000-2001 with the EPs previously available only on vinyl. The music has been described as a hybrid of Dealing With It era DRI or Capitalist Casualties and more melodic rock/hardcore ala Propagandhi or Dillinger 4. Lyrics deal with the cacophony, instability, and evolution in the band members' lives-delving deeper into issues of mental illness and identity development than a good percentage of punk bands have/do-while celebrating/promoting cathartic experiences in punk and in larger contexts. Heterosexism (the notion of "acceptance" as hypocritical), wasted potential through religious concession and emotionally stifling labor, and sex roles are also dealt with. As a whole, this release conveys the urgency behind The Scarlet Letter's approach and is a great introduction for the non-vinyl appreciative crowd or just those who want to hear these songs re-mastered and together in one package. (Hater of God #20)

MACABRE - Drill Bit Lobotomy 7"
Macabre has been churning out the murder metal sense the late 80's. Amazingly with the original lineup - Dennis the Menace, Nefarious and Corporate Death. Serial killer obsession to the extreme. They tip their hats to Jeffery Dahmer. This 7" single includes the original version of "Drill Bit Lobotomy," which was intended for the Dahmer CD but had to edited down for "legal reasons". Other tracks include instrumental versions of "Grandmother's House" and "Coming to Chicago". The 7" is packaged in a circular sleeve and embossed with the Macabre & Murder Metal logos w/ full color insert. Limited to 2000 copies. Description by John of Hater of God. (Hater of God Records #19)

GOMORRHA - LP
Limited to 666 copies, this Gomorrha LP features 27 songs of heavy, brutal grind-core. The LP itself is pressed on a split colored wax, and the covers are a typically fancy looking Hater of God design. Very nice. This will only be pressed on vinyl one time. (Hater of God #15)

SKINLESS - 7"
For those that love metal, Hater of God is the shit. The new Skinless 7" is power driven with machine-gun bass drumming and demonic vocal. The packaging is amazing, even compared to other Hater of God releases; it features a die-cut cover with very aprapo art. Prepare to grovel at the feet of the metal gods. Watch for other Skinless releases on Relapse Records as well as a new Skinless picture disc coming from Hater of God. (Hater of God #18)

AT WAR WITH SHADOWS - Healing Is Not An Option 7" or CDep
At War With Shadows are a depressing journey into the deep void of human existence. Their lyrics are dark and negative while their music is a swirl of hardcore, grind and metal influences. It is well done, well produced, and very strong sounding. The 7" version is limited to 550 copies. (Hater of God Records #16)

THE KILLERS - Manual For Self Destruction 10"
Fresh from their split with Nine Shocks Terror, The Killers are lashing out with ten more tracks of blood and guts hardcore. Screeching vocals, howling guitars, and pounding drum work all guaranteed to annoy the shit out of the neighbors. Vicious and ugly hardcore with gruesome artwork. Definitely one to lend to your grandparents. (Hater of God Records #14)

KARST - Receive the Void 7" (sold out)
Featuring Vicotria from Damad on vocals, Karst make their debut with a limited edition, glow in the dark cover, two song 7". The record is limited to 500 copies, and, yes, as indicated, the cover glows in the dark. The records are pressed with no labels and therefore are all slightly warped, but play fine; no returns on them due to warpage since they are all like that. Musically, this is dark and powerful with hideously heinous vocal work. (Hater of God #16)

DEADLY SINS - 7"x4 box set
Damn, this thing looks amazing. Beautifully made with a lot of nice touches. The box set opens up to a quality booklet with individual pockets for each 7", and the booklet comes with art, text, and lyrics. Kill The Man Who Questions, Ruination, The Black Hand, Damad, Catharsis, MK-Ultra, and Unruh make the noise. Limited to 2,500 copies. Awesome. (Hater of God #13)

357 JUSTICE - Alone, Cold And Blue CD
Head banging madness from the streets of Troy, New York comes 357 Justice. As the name implies, they shoot to kill with a two guitar assault and then pick up the pieces once the damage is done. Hard hitting metal hardcore with a definite grind and mosh thing going on. (Hater of God #12)

MONSTER X/CAPITALIST CASUALTIES - split 7"
Four completely distorted sounding crunchers from Monster X and three brutal bashers from Capitalist Casualties. Put it all together in some fancy packaging with silver foil stamping and a die-cut and you get one slick looking but completely fucked up sounding slab of brutality core. Slaughtering sickness!!! (Hater of God Records #10)

THE SCARLET LETTER - In A Minute 7"
Ten blazing tracks from New Jersey's The Scarlet Letter. The music is powerful and recalls the fury of '80s hardcore, while having some definite newer influences as well. The lyrics are thought out, and the inclosed booklet is simply great. Hey, and they have an angry song called "Fuck You and the Jackass You Rode in on" with "Stupid fucking tight black pants" as a chorus. Hardfuckingcore. (Hater of God Records #11)

HELL CHILD/WORD SALAD - split 10"
Japan's Hell Child are sludgy and droning with what sounds like a full fledged drunk on vocals, while the United State's Word Salad play it a bit faster and it sounds as if their singer has had less to drink, but might be missing several screws. Full color freakin' cover and insert with a comic apocalyptic feel. Noise to drive the neighbors totally insane! And when they come over to complain you can shout in their face, "Hey, it must be good! It's on Hater of God you asshole!" (Hater Of God Records #9)
